would it be possible to take one of those G80-1000, take the blue switches out and put them on a Raptor K1?
thanx
-
The K1 has plate mounted switches - how good are you with a soldering iron?

They're PCB mounted, but (some of them?) have these funny skirts blocking the tabs that lock the switch halves together. The skirts can be cut off with a knife fairly quickly (I used a sharp stanley knife, pushed straight down towards the PCB)... it does feel brutal, but it's unlikely to cause any real damage to the board.

I've modded two of these boards now, for the first one (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:10980), I desoldered. I reckon the chance of damaging the board is about the same either way - pretty small if you're careful.
-
Sry if I'm abit lazy but is cherry the only nkro board?
-
I have a g80-1000 HFD and a G80-1000 HAD which are both NKRO.
And yes, replacing other switches with blues from the g80-1000 is possible.

If that "dusty as ****" Model M sits around long enough, I would be interested in it. Never have had a Greenock model, after all. It is a bit pricey to ship it to me though. I'll have to find out when my friend is going to be visiting her parents next (just south of Berlin, that's all I know). If you still have it when she does, I may just snag it.
Oh, or maybe they could put it in their next chocolate care package...now I need to make some calls...

First time i see it, likely is meant to have a more precise alignment before the soldering process.
BTW as usual, most of the men's problems are starting from a skirt

Heh! I suppose attacking them with a knife doesn't go down too well either!
The only reason we thought of for them is to stop the switches popping open when changing keycaps; they're too loose to act as a support (like a pseudo-plate).

Yes this is more than reasonable
they're too loose to act as a support (like a pseudo-plate).
Yes, sure. I tough they acted as a grid to avoid the light rotation that may occour before soldering them, but this can be true if the skirts are touching each other, just a guess w/o seeing a real photo of the switches mounted.

Selling a few cherries...
All of them are grey, aren't they?
bump:)
-
well. no.
g80.1800 is black with white on black caps.
g80-1501 is completely whiteŽ, no grey modifyers, true white.
edit: just realized i didnt post these two boards in this thread, so yes, all are grey/white. For more stuff check my marketplace thread on DT.

Hi, I might be interested in one of the white label Model Ms if it's possible to convert a German layout to a UK layout by replacing the keycaps. Could you provide some pictures.
Thanks
-
yes it is possible to change caps for a uk layout easily. Pm me which ones you want a pic of and ill send them to you.
