I know all switches are made by cherry and they should be the same no matter what keyboard, but I swear the brown switches on my Das felt just a bit lighter than the ones on my Filco. They were almost to the point where they'd register if I touched it even a little. (Does it need to be broken in more?)
I didn't use the Ripometer test, and I no longer have the Das. But I was just wondering if this phenomenon I'm feeling is possible.
I don't mind all really, but after a couple of days on my Filco, I can definitely confirm it feels a little stiffer by probably 5g. I posted that in my unboxing thread but no one said anything about it, so I'm just curious what others have to say about it.

Alps switches are notorious for this.

afaik, there are some keys on my steelseries 6gv2 which require less force as not so often used keys (e.g. Pause, Pgdn). But I think thats made by steelseries, and has nothing to with the cherry switches..

How long did you use your Das for? I noticed on my Das Blues that my QWERTY keys feel noticeably lighter than my Numpad keys because of the frequency of use.

PCB-mounted switches definitely feel like they have more give when you type on them.
Which to some gives a more comfortable typing experience.

I only had it for a few days, so they are both brand new. I just noticed the Das felt lighter for whatever reason.

My filco feels more solid compared to my razer. I thought it was due to the quality of the keycaps. The razer ones feel more flimsy.

The keycaps make subtle differences in how it feels. After replacing my Das keys with Cherry doubleshots, the keys feel a bit lighter to press and the clicks are more pronounced. I'm almost certain that the sound of the keycaps will also make it seem lighter or heavier to the user

I bet it's a keycap difference.

Even every Filco brown is different slightly, not mention different manufacturers.

I think it's very hard to compare keyboards based on memory. People really underestimate the McGurk Effect.

It's corollary here is what you hear affects what you feel.
Very true. My buckling springs actually feel better when i'm not wearing my headphones.
