Title: Noisy filco keys
Post by: xcluded on Wed, 29 June 2011, 22:33:35
Hi I would like to know if it is normal for such keys(with stabilisers) to be a tad noisy.
The noisy keys are from the num pad namely "+" , "0" and "enter".

Whenever i pressed those keys , I could hear the "metallic" sound from the stabiliser.

If it's just those keys and coming from the stabilizer, use some white lithium grease or similar lubricant on them.  Check the "Cherry MX Key Pulling and Swapping Guide" under the Wiki section and look for the heading of Lubrication.

I think it makes sense !
Quite some time ago , I changed all the keys to PBT.
I remember accidentally wiped off some grease like stuff from them.

Now I got to look for some grease. Sigh.

Thanks everyone for the inputs.

Everyone used to complain about the key rattle of the Filcos. Now it's the ping.

Hopefullly next generation of Filco will use stabilisers with some plastic wrap-up, so that it can less resonate with other metal components.

I kinda think he's just talking about the stabilizers rattling.

Yeah lube it up a bit if you wiped some of the grease off when you were changing keys. If it's still rattling it's likely the normal rattle that you're paying too close attention to.
