Hi all,
Been thinking about getting a HHKB Pro 2 lately. I was wondering about 2 things.
The first is I heard about a HHKB Pro 3 from somewhere I don't remember and I was wondering it that is true. If it is, when is the expected production date?
The second is I was wondering if there is a way to get rid of the HHKB logo on the keyboard? If not, I might just order a custom shell from Signature Plastics (if that's possible).
Thanks,

Btw, I blame you guys for my keyboard addiction!

Don't hold your breath for the HHKB 3
-
Yeah, I wouldn't wait on the 3. It will probably show up about a week after the Unicomp SSK.
And as far as I know regarding the label, I don't think you can remove it without damaging the plastic. But it isn't all that obvious, honestly. At least not on the black one.
-
Hey, does anyone know how much a keyboard frame costs from signature plastics? Also, how I would go about giving them the specifications?
-
you probably have to buy a mold. which cost like $800
-
Not problem. Keyboard addicts seem to have unlimited funds

If that's the case, I'll just build my own keyboard. =/

What's so bad about the label on it? Unless you're getting white, in which case I can kinda see what the problem would be.

Im very minimalmist when it comes to everything and because of this I strongly prefer a clean look. It's why I perfer my leopold over the filco. Nothing wrong with the logo, just preference. It's a pretty stupid preference :/.
-
All preferences are, to other people that don't share it. I say go with what you like, and to hell with what others think of your preference.
One thing you could try, if you get the white one, is use a magic eraser (micro abrasive pad) to try and remove the logo. It would probably leave a mark, though, which would sort of defeat the purpose. I've cleaned up a yellowed keyboard that way, but it took a TON of work to make it all look even, with finer and finer abrasive pads. I eventually stopped before it became shiny, though.

Yeah, I just emailed signature plastics about it, so we'll see. If the shell costs more than 200$ I have 2 choices.
1. Get the HHKB anyway
2. Make my own keyboard

You could always try contacting PFU, and see if you could get one without a logo. It would add some expense, if they would even do it, but it's worth a try.
You speak Japanese, right? I certainly hope so, since I believe you'd have to contact the Japanese brance of the company.
-
Nope, only language I speak is English sadly. I also don't know anyone that can speak japanese off the top of my head. Hmm.....
-
Just send your request in caps....they'll get the message.

If you ever need help with Japanese just let me know. ;)

LOL That is so true... in all languages.

I am afraid it's not the Pro 3. What you heard might very likely be the "Type-S" Silence edition. However it is very expensive even in Japan. The regular HHKB pro2 goer about 19,000 yen in Japan, and the silence edition is currently at 26,000 yen. a 40% premium over the regular pro 2. By the time they get to this side of the ocean, I would't be surprised if they cost $400.

Hey reaper, if possible could u email PFU asking if a special order of a HHKB Pro 2 w/o a logo is possible? If you do, and I get a logoless HHKB Pro 2, I'll get the HHKB pixelart thingy and credit you for making it possible in my signature. Not to mention, I'll love you <3.
-
I didnt read the entire thread but if you dislike the logo why dont you just paint it?
-
Would rit dye work? I'm really bad at painting things =/. Cuz I will do that if I can't order a custom one from PFU.
-
base on my experience, it's like pulling teeth to get topre or PFU to do anything custom unless you are a sizable company or a professor from a major university.
