Title: cherry POS keyboard options
Post by: N8N on Sun, 10 July 2011, 06:56:12
saw this on the 'bay while looking for something in black

item no. 200627143306

it's a G81-8000LPCUS - idea is this.  do the MX and MY switches have the same pinout?  Could I use that board and the clears from the cheap one that's been on the bay to turn the cheap clear board into ANSI?  (or just use the whole M81 board w/ clear switches?)

I don't think I want to pay $50 plus shipping to try it though... any reason an old POS board is so expensive?

simple answer...no. you cannot mount mx switches on my boards.

figures.  I thought that maybe since the keycaps were compatible so would be the circuit boards.

I do have a perfectly good set of ANSI black doubleshots w/ nothing to use them on :/  (unless I want to type on mush)

MY switches work by pressing contacts on membranes laying below. These boards are completely different.
