It does look kind of odd, they're 'centered' but the left half looks like its slightly right justified and the right half to the left.

not even SP could screw up the character positioning that bad.

I presume they [the keycaps maker] are using a real keyboard to do the first calibration, so the slight tolerances in placement of the switches, the switch wobbliness and so on will affect the following series of keycaps.

They are all the same, BWU, Mionix even xarmor on the first batches have slightly misplaced legends.

these aren't slight though. the characters are centered on opposite halves of the key top?! when i can see the difference from a crappy cellphone picture, taken at an angle and out of focus, that's a bad sign.

Cellphones keyboards, as keyboards from logitech, microsoft etc.. are true industrial products, mech boards are, more or less artisanal products.

If (when) logitech will jump on the mechs bandwagon you will say goodbye to pinging filcos, uneven keys, not centered legends and so on...

hopefully those are prototype pictures or something

Surely this is one of the very first prototypes.

yes and no.  i think the real challenge here is one of the big issues ripster had originally.  the QC on these devices just isn't there, and more the point you're making, that's the difference.  legend placement on those keys is unacceptable, and shouldn't pass the factory's QC, let alone Ducky's.

but, we'll see once we see someone carrying this board.  maybe that's why we don't have them yet :flypig:

Its posible they did it purposly to make the backlighting seem better as the legend is directly over the led

Sso.. the keys with two characters (top row, punctuation...) have the unshifted one on top and the shifted one on bottom?

Except the square brackets and backslash?

Honest silly mistake? Attempt at edginess? Both?

BW is the same, and is one of the think I dislike about them.

The idea is to have the main (unshifted) character evidenced by backlight and the secondary one were some space is left.

Preproduction Xarmor had the legends both on top of the key, with the shifted ones placed slightly higher, the same is true for BL82.

My Xarmor and Qpad have the legends placed side by side, which is also a bit misleading.

I solved this way

Wait, what? You dyed the right half of the key green or something?

You can dye LEDs?  I suppose that makes sense.  Also, kind of brilliant in a way.  +1 for The Solutor.

Not exactly dye, alcohol paint, durable but easy removable (with just alcohol).

I'm lazy and I don't want to resolder 106 leds when I change my mind.

Still, quite clever.  I'm sure a lot of Black widow ultimate owners out there would pay for such a tip.
