19 races, 110 wpm average on typeracer
Now, if anyone here gets cocky about their typing speed, you should know that one of the GH members is Sean Wrona (arenasnow), the winner of the Ultimate Typing Championship (http://www.ultimatetypingchampionship.com/). He won with a 163wpm performance and has a YouTube video of him clocking in at 212wpm in a Typeracer match.
That's sort of a horrible typing test, since it uses a random collection of words with no relation to one another. Passages from a random novel, or a song, or some such makes a more realistic test.
At least, that's my opinion.
I plateau around 70-75 wpm and struggling to get faster. Standard touch typing. Any hints for improving speed?Make sure you have good posture, learn to be as relaxed as possible, and just keep practicing.

This is on a Razer Tarantula. I also type in my own style where I don't use my pinkies except for left shift, enter and backspace. I keep my left middle finger on "w," my left ring finger on "a," and my left index finger on "d." My right hand just sits wherever it pleases. ^_^
I think this improvised meta typing game would be a lot more fun if we each did one round on the ****tiest keyboard we could find and then did one round on our daily driver.
gratz #1 ^^
One of my best scores on speedtestShow Image(http://i52.tinypic.com/2mmzazd.png)
I was able to maintain this on one of the longer passages on typeracer:Show Image(http://i55.tinypic.com/2mx4wfn.png)
I think this was my best score of all time... too bad I wasn't logged in into my accountShow Image(http://i52.tinypic.com/vzuio5.png)
I just tried typeracer.com, but the countdown starts before it's even ready to start accepting keystrokes. I have to click on the box, wait a few seconds, start typing and still it misses the first character and says I have a typo.

I tried that when I got an ASUS Netbook and I was really bemoaning the shrunken nature of the netbook keys. Well, it turns out that as much as I hated that keyboard, it barely affected my speed test results. I was 100+ before. I was 100+ after.

You shouldn't need to click the box, it should disappear on its own and the cursor should default into the typing box. If not, it's probably a browser issue. Which do you use?
I did this one a few days ago on a Majestouch 2 Ninja with MX Brown switches. 99 words per minute with a 399 score. My aim is 100+ wpm for now.

I'm using Firefox 5 on OSX 10.5 (PPC).

I'm using a french dvorak layout and actually, I'm slower with the french test.
That makes me believe that they count words as… well, real words, while they shouldn't (wikipedia link above).
French words are longer, that makes sense.
It sucks, as a test, sorry.
103 on a cheapo Logitech. Will try for reals on Monday with my Kinesis.
104WPM with EeePC 1001 laptop. No mistakes!
That website is terrible since the words are random.I just did 47 WPM on typeracer on my fujitsu laptop. I'll try the Unicomp later, and the WASD (cherry brown) when it arrives.
I prefer hi-games.net (http://hi-games.net) or typeracer.com (http://typeracer.com)

I've got a tenkeyless leopold (brown) in the mail and it should be here any second now
Dat starcraft APM haha.
I remember seeing your 169 wpm before the rollback.
I would like to revive this thread to continue the challenge.
My current speed typing with 10 fingers is 50 WPM using my pok3r
Keep typing rolling...
