I don't know if this thing's mechanical, but for $0.99 NIB it could be worth the risk. My bet is it's complicated black alps. It looks very similar to a Dell AT101.

For some reason I can never resist when it's down in that $15 shipped range.
I don't even know why I do these things. I have no intention to use this. I have a KBC Poker w/ Browns, just like I always wanted.
I'll probably just take a key cap off, take it for a test drive, then either throw it in the trash or take some pics and relist it.

It's an NMB - either space invaders or rubber dome.
-
Nevermind...
I'm getting a lot of different information. It seems that AST used the KB101 name for a number of different keyboards.
This particular one was manufactured in Taiwan, which is, hopefully, a good sign.
-
Please let us know what you find under the cap :)
-
Yeah, I'll have to wait for it to arrive because Google isn't helping any.
I can find pics of Thai and Malaysian builds of keyboards that look very similar with PS/2 instead of AT connections... But they really seem different in terms of build quality, and the stickers on the back are completely different.
At this point I'm betting on rubber domes. However, it's only $15 shipped, and it's an interesting looking well built board from Taiwan circa 1988 new in box, so there's a lot of positives there. Even if it's the dreaded dome.

Dear jamesnicholl88,
I just noticed that that keyboard accidentally got left at .99 when I listed it - I had it for $40. Oh well, you got a hell of a deal.
Thanks
:)
-
lol, someone got lucky
-
Great deal indeed then.. Let us know when it arrives
-
If it is space invaders, I wish I had gotten it.
-
The hell? How did this sell for just 17.00 shipped?
-
Worth the risk to experiment. I have a couple lovely rubber domes from this. :)
-
Did you ever find out what it was?
-
I haven't received it yet.
-
Space Invaders feel great, and even if it's domes, NMB made some of the best domes ever.
-
space invaders do feel pretty damn good. only issue i have with them is that if u dont release the key fully before you depress it again it wont make a clicking noise on the upstroke of it, witch is really annoying for me. dont have a din adapter so i havnt got to test if its an issue in real world or not

It's domes.
I haven't completely disassembled it yet, but I did take a key cap off.
The key caps are doubleshots. The stem is connected to the key cap and goes through a rubber sleeve that looks like a dome with no top. It's the rubber sleeve that acts as a spring.
