Not sure what the backlighting issue is about that the description mentions. The one's I had all worked without an AC adapter.
TG3 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220817143635)
Dexter would approve.

Looks exactly like a deck, but doesn't say what kind of switches they are.

i emailed the seller. he seems to speak broken english. he says that info is direct from TG3. makes so sense to me as well.
i asked if he had tried the keyboard to see what happens and he didn't answer.
what is with ebay sellers and failing to answer multiple questions?

It says "Tactile full travel key switches for superior feel vs. rubber keys". So it's probably Cherry Clear.
-
Could that be out of a police car or firetruck (or similar)? It might explain the 12VDC situation.

I took apart the TG3 I had (trading the keys in classifieds!) and they are black switches. Was going to do ghetto reds, but got lazy on the desoldering, so I shipped it to someone who was doing a mod project.

Could be a problem for some old nitpicking usb ports. Even if unlikely. The red version should draw not more than 300mA

Cherry Blacks with a rubber dome splash guard that doubles activation force while adding tactility.
