Title: The Team Fortress 2 Thread
Post by: hella on Sat, 23 July 2011, 19:31:31
Are there any other TF2 players here on geekhack?

For those of you not farmiliar with the game, Team Fortress 2 is class-based first person shooter that's now free to play.  It's become a huge hit at our Friday night lans and I suggest y'all give it a try.

I play sometimes. Ripster's son is a backstabbing spy who I'm pretty sure pwned me before.

What HUD do you all use/what servers do you regular? (P.S. 24/7 Insta-Respawn Allcrit 2fort/Orange_x3 is not an acceptable answer)

I use PVHUD, it's one of the best out there.  There's an .exe that has a no-hassle updater.  This makes updating way easier when patches roll around since you don't have to dig through their official forums.

Reddit servers are win dude!  Have you checked them out yet?

I used to play it for a while when it was released, but nowadays that 10gig space requirement puts me off reinstalling it.
At least until I clean up and make some space.

I found a sick server with a payload variation of 2fort.  It's way better than the standard, which is a map I don't even bother playing anymore.

Anyone else every try it?

Software designers are getting so lazy... they deliberately abuse the high capacity hard drives these days.

Lol along the lines of software designers getting lazy... Valve's business model is great if you work there, terrible if you're a consumer.  Employees are free to join and leave any project they want to do and there's no set date for things to be done.

You sure about that? I'd be surprised. Gaming is one of the most stressful industries for developers, primarily because of crazy deadlines.

Awww yea, WestTOO is the ****!  Gabe Newell said in an interview this year that the company's moved away from deadlines.  After the switch Valve's had a 98-99% retention rate from year to year and employees are happier.

Anyone into comp TF2?  Last seasons LAN winners just had a frag video made for them.  TLR is a beast with his airshots and DAVE__AC just divebombs medic
