Has anyone noticed....
That link-farms have recently been getting really good at getting on top of search lists? Most of the searchces I've made today have resulted in the first top 3 matches being spam sites and link-farms. There's so much spam using google right now, I'm looking for a different search engine. *Panic* *Panic*

I've used the option in google to eliminate certain sites from the results.  I have entered a whopping 5 sites and it has eliminated that issue entirely for the things I search.

Don't panic: Google is constantly fighting that and they've got a system in place where they can instantly de-list entire site(s) so I'm not too worried: using a few "-" and blacklisting crap I can still find trivially what I'm looking for using Google and anyway I know there are a lot of bright minds working on this problem at Google so I'm not too worried.

Just like I hardly remember what email spam is seen that since I switched my personal email to GMail and my company to "Google Apps for domain/business" I'm hardly getting any spam anymore (despite having publicly published emails), I'm pretty sure one day these link farms will just be 0wned by the engineers at Google.

As for your immediate concern: what alaricljs said : )

Thanks for the advice. However, I'm starting to think that the problem is some sort of elaborate virus, since this only seems to be happening on one computer. I've run one scan, and nothing was found, but I have a lineup of a dozen more scanners I use, so we'll see.

I removed several spyware programs, and now Google doesn't work at all. All of the links are broken.... WTF... Time to re-install Firefox, apparently.

Sounds like some of the issues I had with my kids computers, and a friend of mine, google redirection/hijacking, rootkits, etc.  Fixed them all using the malware removal procedures from MajorGeeks (http://forums.majorgeeks.com/forumdisplay.php?&f=35).  If you haven't checked it out, I highly re

Thanks to TexasFlood and MajorGeeks, Google is now working quite well, although, I did finally find another really good alternative search engine. Anyone else ever tried DuckDuckgo?
