Just got it in the mail!

It's certainly stiffer than my zenith, requires quite a bit of noticeably more pressure to activate.
I still bottom out, but I only just started typing on it. This keyboard is useless if I don't stop though. I'd much rather have my linear green ALPS if I'm going to be bottoming out.

Nice, even if you don't use it, you can keep it as an investment or to pass it on to your kids some day!
-
Congrats. As mentioned, even if you don't use it, its a great thing to hang on to :-)
-
Actually I prefer clicky.
This is a pretty easy board to bottom out on, but I don't do it very hard at all so it doesn't matter to me.
-
Yeah, I wasn't expecting something easy to bottom out...
But the weird thing is, on my Zenith, bottoming out doesn't fatigue my fingers near as much as just getting this keyboard to the actuation point. I haven't gotten tired yet though... but I haven't done much coding/writing with it yet.

Congrats...it will take awhile to get used to.
-
Yep, my M13 makes my hands feel down right arthritic. I prefer the lighter actuation pressure of the model F, my fingers dance across those keys.
-
Hmm... with all the dislikes I have with this keyboard, I find that I can't keep my fingers off of it, theres just something strangly addicting...
Gonna type on it exclusivly for the next couple of days, so I can get used to it and give my real opinion then.
Of course, still bottoming out, which me thinks makes the board pointless, but we'll see...

interestingly, when I have the caps lock on my laptop keyboard, this keyboard is in caps lock, but when I turn the caps lock on, and the light comes on, its lowercase! it reverses!
Gah, boring I know.... But It was interesting to me!!
Trey.

It should be giving the light out correctly to all boards as soon as something changing a light happens.
-
Not always, I see this problem when I have multiple keyboards connected to a computer. Sometimes, only the keyboard whose caps lock I press gets the light, but all of them write in caps. And if you press caps lock again in another keyboard, you will get the reverse behavior.... yup, typing this sentence with 2 caps lock turned on (kinesis & poker).

Any interest in a red Esc key with black legends from Unicomp for your new Model M? I'm trying to get my hands on one but Unicomp has a minimum order of $10. For that price I can get 4 keys but the shipping is a ridiculous $8
-
Possibly... What do they look like? I couldn't find them on the site...
-
Would also like a red ESC for Model M.. but I'm in Europe, is that a problem? :)
(sorry for thread hijack, carry on)

I want 1 red and 1 orange.

I'd prefer this one

But my mother would probably kill me... This site seems nice for different key caps though? http://www.fentek-ind.com/keys.htm (http://www.fentek-ind.com/keys.htm)

I guess if there's enough demand I can start my first group buy or something. I could take a bunch of requests, order all of them together and then send them out to you guys. This would be awesome because it would make the shipping less ludicrous. Shipping it to everyone also wouldn't be a big pain in the ass since keys will fit in an envelope.
-
How much would it be for a model m 101 spacebar? Mine is dead now (because it was abs) so I need a replacement.
Though I'll probably just post a WTB since I know there are lots of people with buckets (probably an exaggeration) of keys.
-
Well Unicomp sells one spacebar for $3.00. I would probably tack on 25 or 50 cents for the service.
-
Or you could go with a red 'Geek Hack' escape (there's a group buy going on)...
Not looking anywhere near as good as Ripster's pic :
(since then my M went into black-blank-otaku keys mode hence the picture not matching my sig ; )
-
You're bottoming the keys? Type lighter and faster! Part of the IBM M's charm is it's addictive nature. When I let others use it they go "there's something about this keyboard......" Makes typing fun again! ClickyKeyboards sells spare keys of all kinds, of course. TPF

Been typing on exclusively, daily and constantly since I go it.
I've been bottoming out a lot less, but I still do. Its not a bad keyboard by any stretch, and I'd take it over a rubber dome keyboard any day, and the clicky-ness HAS increased my accuracy, but I still think I prefer my light, linear green alps.
I'm going to continue to type on it for a week, it's getting better everyday. Check back then I suppose...
@Atenacius can I have a link? I want to browse through some of the options... do they have that key I posted above, white with a black woman (lol, I know)?

Go to my group buy thread (which is now closed) for the pictures and info. There is a pricing list there. Also, I don't think they can do anything other than text. You can contact them directly, their support is very nice and usually get back to your inquiries the next day
