Post by: jrockroll on Fri, 29 July 2011, 20:36:35
im deciding on filco otaku tenkeyless and xarmor backlit. i play some star craft 2, pes 2011  and some school work. the thing with filco is that there is no keypad on the right side. but to think about it, i dont use that much number pad. which one do YOU guys recommend?
i heard both filco and xarmor's keycaps become shiny after several use.
price of filco=109
price of xarmor=130

but i hear that with filco, if you use for awhile, the surface of the keycaps come off easily due to the oil produced from ur hand

Probably a good idea to consider Ducky for back lighting. You will be able to get something more quiet for gaming like brown, black, or red. The blue switch can be loud in late night hours.

They all shine, and so even if you have PBT eventually they will shine too. I think tenkeyless should be great for most gamers out there, and be sufficient for most typist. It's nice to have a smaller board if you can get away with it.
Remember also that you can always get some new caps later. Key caps change the feeling of typing, and gaming. So it's also good to consider new caps for a board you really like.

Since you seem to like the number pad, check wasdkeyboards.com they have customizable keyboards, colored keycaps, etc, plus 10% off for Geekhackers (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?20387-Use-quot-GHFIRST10-quot-for-10-your-first-keyboard-order!-Expires-8-7-11)

Hey. I have the XArmor Backlit(Browns) and it's great- solid build, good quality, and bright. My next will be a Filco (Red- with the numberpad) as soon as Amazon gets more in stock, which I have no idea when the hell that's going to be...
The "shine" issue- just clean her' off with some rubbing alcohol  :)

Xarmor w/o no doubts, although you manged to find a filco closer than usual to its real value.

Btw the filco's keycaps becomes shiny because they are cheap and worn quickly, xarmor's keycaps becomes shiny because the finger oil, just clean them and are again like new.

I don't like any product that become famous and/or overpriced w/o any merit. Filco is obviously included.

If XArmor becomes famous, you will get all the merit. :-)
Works with infamous too. Comes with both sides of the coin.

And he doesn't really give any sources for his information.

Must be how they do it in Italy academia.

Apparently, grade inflation in Italy is so bad that the average grade of someone coming out of a bachelors degree is 99%. Thus the decimal place after your overall grade is usually the metric of how good you are.

Sounds like a pass or fail thing... What's the ratio of people finishing with 99% and people leaving without a degree?
