Title: filco majestouch-2 ninja board sag
Post by: dolphingarden on Tue, 02 August 2011, 20:53:44
When viewing my keyboard from a horizontal, "2-d" point of view like this -> [CTRL|WIN|ALT|SPACE|ALT|WIN|LIST|CTRL]
the middle portion of portion of the base on which the keys sit on sags noticeably compared to the edges, so that the keyboard base kind of looks like a very wide parabola. Is this normal for all ninjas or is mine weird?

Do you punch your keyboard when frustrated? That would explain it :-)  I would imagine this can happen to full-size keyboards naturally over time, tenkeyless should be less prone. Actually you can try gently bending it the other way, the metal plate should hold the desired shape.

I treat my keyboard pretty carefully, because it's so expensive haha. Yeah occassionally I hear cracks and clangs emanating from the keyboard, almost like the sound a house settling in would make. I don't really want to bend the keyboard, and I can't send this keyboard back either b/c the shipping costs to the UK would be absurd. I don't know what to do :(.

So put a straight edge to the key tops, then the case top front edge and the case bottom front edge.   Having removed the case from my Filco tenkeyless I have seen that the case top is quite flexible and it would not surprise me if it's just that 1 part not sitting properly.

Try bending it gently. Alternatively, tack a couple extra feet in the middle of the keyboard (preferably a tad taller than the corner feet) and see if it straightens up in a few days.

lol
My ceiling sags. Most things with a large unsupported length will sag, gravity is relentless. So, don't worry about it, dolphingarden, it's normal (especially for full-size keyboards).
