Title: Dealextreme?
Post by: Input Nirvana on Thu, 04 August 2011, 02:10:15
I've seen a post or two about Dealextreme. Any cautions? From what I gather, you get your stuff in a few weeks or so, if it doesn't work you're on your own. It's all knock-off stuff. Seems ok if you're buying a stick, but not the place to purchase your pacemaker.

buy from DealExtreme with the mindset that it is a Chinese company selling Chinese products. No matter what, they're making a profit off you, and even moreso when they don't feel like shipping your stuff. The only time I've ever even considered them was when I wanted to buy a laser pointer. Did some quick research and did not buy.

I bought some flashlight collimators from them simply because they weren't available anywhere else.  Had no problems.  That said I second the opinion that I wouldn't order anything from them that was time critical or even that I was going to rely on.

Slow, more slow than others. But I haven't had issue on few purchases I had there, one gas lighter was broken(couldn't hold gas), but a few photos and I got new one, didn't even have to send old(cost would have likely been multiple times higher than item)...

What I have heard they are legit, stuff is cheap and quality isn't always top, but no scam(items might be knock-offs though)... Nice place for junk anyway ;D

I was looking at a soldering pick set for $4 instead of $8 and maybe a 6 foot long iPhone usb cable for $2 that will be used for charging only, not syncing.

Pretty low-tech stuff.

I discovered a long time ago to have the ability to charge cell phones anywhere, anytime, without plugging, moving, returning, or otherwise jacking around with cables. So every car, computer, travel bag, computer case, and a 6 foot so can be wall plugged and usable at the same time. I obviously use my phone for business, and am mobile, not in an office all day.

I've bought a few things:
* Set of four One Piece figures.  Only one was remotely good; all were likely crap bootlegs
* POST code card- sort of cool for like 13 bucks.
* Android tablet:  screen would discoulour wildly, construction was poor and rattly, no obvious upgrade path beyond 2.1; took weeks and weeks to arrive due to poor tracking of mails.

Overall, not thrilled

Android tablet? You are the bold one Foo! After cruising their site, my confidence was pretty medium at best, that's why I posted the question.

I'll take the chance to save whatever on some soldering picks and maybe something else where cheap doesn't matter. And I'll still cry if I get jacked. Yea, I know, I'm totally gutless.

Quality is what you can expect for the price, don't buy if you want premium.

Hmm, have to see if I waste some more money there...

I've ordered quite a few times from dealextreme, they are pretty legit. I usually get my stuff around 3-4 weeks, quality obviously isn't going to be the greatest but you get what you pay for.

I'm not convinced of their quality control. I ordered 2 of an item from them before and when I eventually received it weeks later, one of them did not function.
