Title: Why are Northgate Omnikey so expensive/desirable?
Post by: Clickey on Tue, 09 August 2011, 08:33:43
I have heard people say they use the same clicky white alps as some MUCH cheaper boards, so why is every1 trying to get the omnikeys?

Build quality supposedly is much, much better than say a Focus 2001. Also has NKRO I believe.

Que Ripster and the supply / demand curve.  FYI, this 'Majiq" version of the Northgate Ultra (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?20506-Majiq-Northgate-Omnikey-Clicky-Keys-Keyboard-9.99-14.99-shipping-%28to-me%29) very recently went for what seems to me to be a pretty decent price of $34.

You can also get Northgates with ALPS Complicated Blues.  They and the Complicated Greens have the best reputation among ALPS fans.
So I've heard but unfortunately never tried, but I like my complicated whites.
