Title: Clickclack vs the Chinese
Post by: cactux on Tue, 16 August 2011, 00:32:16
Looks like the Chinese (http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.kbc-china.com%2Fthread-4426-1-1.html) are coming with new: keycaps designes, low prices (not very sure about the quality). Who will win Good vs Evil :fencing:

truely awesome, but it was only a matter of time.  I hope that those carved pieces are prototypes for the molds, because even at Chinese prices, handmade caps are not going to be cheap.

I'm intrigued by the translucent caps too.  Nice find.

I just realized that was posted last December...  Anyone seen an update on their progress?  I suppose I can just search taobao for the answer.

I haven't seen any appear here or other english speaking forums.  They were quite custom.

You do not need to go to far to find some. Check this out http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?21674-Lots-of-key-caps-for-sale.-104-clear-37-PBT-Customized-keys-and-Aluminum-keys.

$50 a piece?  Damn it, and I was thinking about replacing 104 keys.....hmmm.

Although paying $5000+ for metal keycaps is insane, picturing  a keyboard full of glittering metal keys certainly puts me in a deep hypnotic trance.  =)

That metal keyboard has keys that are brushed on all sides.  I prefer keys with only brushed top and polished sidewalls.

(The line between geekery and jewelry is now getting blurry.)
