ages and ages ago, i once had a fullsize keyboard. it was very clicky, and instead of a numpad, it had a nice, big ol trackball. i had it with an old 486 ages ago. it was heavy as hell and connected using a fullsize AT connector. ring any bells for anyone?

no i dont think it was that. it had a standard set of arrow keys and no numpad whatsoever.

More boards like that exist than you would think, care to provide some more details? Did the trackball come with mouse buttons?
-
trackball had button around it. it was a tank of a keyboard.

yes... exactly. it was nearly 10 years ago i had it too.... it had a full size AT connector for the keyboard, and a ps/2 din connector for the mouse. it was beige and had two tone keys

Look anything like this?

I think beige and two tone keys just described pretty much every board of the era.

no i dont think so unfortunately. trackball did have little rectangular buttons like that 2nd one though. but nothing else on it rings a bell. first one isnt even close.
-
I think you should try to specify what style of enter key it had, that might help.

Was the trackall in the same location as the second 2nd example? I had forgotten you said it had a standard set of arrow keys and no numpad but was just looking for comparison examples. When googling for example, I found one I'd love to have if the trackball weren't serial, and probably also very low resolution, shown below.

you know the more i look at it, the more familiar that Trak101 board seems to me... that may have actually been it.
EDIT: NO! thats not it...i just remembered something else about it, it had thin rectangular buttons below the spacebar for the mouse buttons.
