Wow, $99 for a tablet after $300 off? Crazy! Too bad HP doesn't make Topre keyboards, they could use a discount like that.

Can still get the 32GB version from Microcenter.  Costs a bit more ($150) and gotta pay tax and shipping but very likely gonna pull the trigger anyway for a new toy.

1. Android was already ported, nobody made drivers because there wasn't any interest. Guess what's going to happen now.
2. Microcenter has it in stores. Staples, Office Max, Sears, etc. should all have it in stores eventually. Not sure if the DFW area Fry's has any left. Hope is lost for most Wally Worlds, people were driving around at 1AM or 2AM last night snatching them up from 24 hour stores.

All the Walmart's within 30 miles of me were already sold out when I discovered the price drop this morning.  I saw this post last night, but thought it was in reference to HP dropping the Touchpad, not dropping the price of the Touchpad.

****ty, I would pay $99 for a Touchpad, but apparently everyone else would too.  http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3220862 (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3220862)

I was able to snag four of the 16gb models from HP's website

for those of you still looking you can get them online at HP small business .. just will have to take some patience going back and clicking buttons constantly until you get through

I am pretty excited for these -- will be giving one to my parents, one to my grandparents, one to my sister, and one to my girlfriend

now they can all leave me and my galaxy tab alone :D

If you have a confirmation maybe you're good, I hope so.  I got a confirmation from Microcenter then a cancellation.  "Bryna" Social Media Manager for HP, posted on twitter an hour ago - "yes. Those on the SMB site -- SO SORRY :( but there is a glitch that is not reflecting inventory being OUT of STOCK", a kick in the gut, but added 15 minutes ago "More coming soon. Stay tuned and try again" so gave back some hope.

Anyone who is still interested in these might want to check this mammoth epic thread on Slickdeals (http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3220862).  I think it's already hit max posts at least once and wrapped.  Sitting at 9,069 as of this moment but that's just a point in time since the rate of new posts is simply amazing.  Anyway, new sources are starting to open up, onsale through amazon, macmall, costcentral, surely more to come.  There is apparently a lot of stock out there and someone posted he has a contact who works for China shipping (COSCO) who told him that a ship loaded with six 40ft containers containing Touchpads is enroute and will be pulling into Port of Long Beach, CA on Tuesday.  Since HP has officially lowered the MSRP on these, anyone who wants one should be able to get one with a little vigilance.  The biggest problem right now is any site mentioned in that thread immediately is subject to effectively a DOS from readers.  Major sites like Amazon can take it but lesser sites crumble.

Seems like folks are having the best luck at the moment with  these 16 & 32GB models from onSale through Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field-keywords=Smartbuy+TouchPad).  onSale is subsidiary of MacMall who reportedly has a lot of these but available via Amazon while the MacMall website had been crushed last I checked.

There should be an app to track these.

Probably available only for the iPad.

Problem is the iPad app seemingly has filters that only find products selling for at least 4 times this price and can't display most of them anyway since flash is required.

FYI, onsale orders are shipping but status not being updated on Amazon.  If you call onsale you can get confirmation of this with onsale order number which is being updated in their tracking system and tracking number if shipped.  It's the OnSale Sales number on the website 1-888-760-0300, can take a while to get through to them.  There are a variety of different errors, mostly all circuits busy, but also "experiencing problems" or just one ring and hang up.  But if you hang in there and get answered, I was on hold about 1 1/2 hrs but once the guy answered he got me the info VERY quickly, no BS he cut to the chase.  He was very overwhelmed and working very hard and worried about negative feedback.  I could criticize onsale for poor communications but that guy was doing his job well.  As I understand it, orders to be cancelled have been cancelled and emails sent out.  If you didn't receive a cancellation email sounds like odds in your favor.

One more batch supposedly coming to HP Home and Office store.  Monitor this HP rep twitter (https://twitter.com/#!/BrynaAtHP) for updates, sign up for notifications here (http://www.hp.com/united-states/webos/us/en/tablet/touchpad-availability.html).  FYI Best Buy closing out some accessories including the below HP Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard for HP TouchPad Tablets (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Wireless+Keyboard+for+HP+TouchPad+Tablets/2883101.p?id=1218363391404&skuId=2883101) which presumably could be used for other things besides the Touchpad. See what I did there, managed to bring it back around to keyboards,

Thought I would give you guys a report.  I got 2 via eCost delivered yesterday.  Sold one to a member here.  Keeping the other for myself.

Wow, I've been really impressed by this thing.  I've had multiple Palm products in the past (Personal, Prism, and Tungsten T3) and iPhones, etc.  For the record, I've never had anything Android.

IMHO WebOS is a real gem; it's highly intuitive and very responsive.  Using the cards/stacks method of window/app management is fun and easy.  Way better than iOS.  WebOS handles the swiping, stacking, etc. very naturally.  I haven't had the slightest hiccup with that.  However, there are some tweaks that everyone with one of these should do.  Look here(link (http://www.zdnet.com/blog/mobile-news/how-to-improve-the-performance-of-your-new-hp-touchpad/3866)).

The graphics and icons are very linuxy:  smooth gradients and not a ton of cutesie, cartoon, candy-coated type feel (hello, Apple).  Feels more grown-up than others.

The built-in apps are pretty good.  The Facebook app (if you still/ever used Facebook) is really great.  The other built-in apps like mail, calendar, etc. are pretty standard.  The browser is fast and has enough functionality to not leave you wanting but not so much that it gets bogged down.

The single most useful accessory for this thing has to be the Touchstone dock.  Maybe I’m the last one in the world to discover inductive charging, but after experiencing it I've gotta ask, "why doesn't every device have this?"  And when you drop the Touchpad in the dock, it automagically goes into Exibition mode, displaying pictures, clocks, news, weather, etc.  Will be awesome on my desk in the office or next to the bed.  Oh, and did I mention that HP's folio case still works with the Touchstone dock?  Yep, charges right through it.

The hardware seems somewhat generic.  Yes, the screen is really nice; I watched some trailers, looked at some photos, and read some blogs and all of that is great on the screen.  The camera's usable but only just barely.  The casing feels kindof cheap to me and is a horrible fingerprint magnet.  Black deep gloss plastic is sooooo "two-thousand and late".  Matte, softtouch, or even a fake carbon texture would all be better.  Everything else about the hardware is OK.  The CPU isn't lightning-quick but you can overclock it with a custom kernel if you like.  The speakers sound much better than my iPhone 4, my wife's iPad, or my Acer 1810T laptop.  This will be our new in-bed-movie-watching device just because of the sound.

Let me address the lack of apps...it's not that bad.  Yes, there's not a Logos (Bible study software) for it like there is for iOS and Android, but you know what?  It doesn't matter.  I just use the web app and it actually works on WebOS because it's Flash enabled.  Can't do THAT on iOS.  So Google Plus, Amazon VOD, Pandora, etc. work great in the browser just like on your laptop.  I couldn't get Netflix to work, but I'm cancelling my subscription in a few days anyway. :-p

So, there's my take.  Feel free to ask questions if you like.

The speakers DO sound great, but I would really like to be able to video chat on google plus, definitely a minus for me. I did one video chat on skype but the camera on my end output at around 2 fps. Not sure if that was a one time eal or if the camera is just really terrible

i just got mine and still doing the recommended WebOS update.  I ran a few other minor updates, adobe, quickoffice, and grabbed angry birds for my daughter to play when she gets home.  So just starting out and don't really have a feel for it yet.  So far it reminds me of an ipad although I haven't really used an ipad enough to know much about there so I'm just talking the top surface.

Thanks for the reminder.  There is a ton of now mostly obsolete info about who has touchpads for what price but also some good info about the touchpad.  I meant to go check out the recommendations in the wiki section of that thread after getting the touchpad but forgot in my excitement.  Megathread is right, that thing is a beast the likes of which I've never seen.  Even now the new posts easily outpace my ability to read them.  I think it was responsible for many vendor websites being crushed as folks read about a new site having touchpads.  Sure stress tested a lot of electronics companies and many failed.  Amazon came through though

Amazon sold them them in an unannounced lightning gold box deal that lasted seconds, one for 16GB, another for 32GB. I wasn't around to take advantage.  I wonder if that was really all of them of if woot, which Amazon owns, might turn up with some but have nothing really to base that on.  Woot already had the HP touchpad once not so long ago (8/4/2011) for $379.

CyanogenMod 7 is in the process of being ported to the HP TouchPad, but it's currently in a Pre-Alpha stage.  Not even the touch screen works right now but it can boot up Android.

Looking good for those who made the investment.

And helpful patches to turn off useless performance hurting stuff like the ripple effect on presses and other animations, themes, app, lots of good stuff to explore.  But be warned as with the app store, a lot of the stuff there is for the older pre phones and not optimal for the touchpad, maybe better than nothing if you need something though.
