Title: Experience with different switches for numkeys, also trackmania

Hi there,

I want to create (or buy) a triple-switch keyboard, however I have a few questions, maybe someone here has had experience with it. My plan is as follows:

- the numkeys (1-0) on the tenkeyless filco board will have brown switches
- the arrow keys will have black switches
- rest is blue

Now my questions:
- Are reds better than black switches for games like Trackmania or battlefield? I like the weight of blues, on topre 45g I always accidently pressed the keys when resting on the homerow
- Are different switches for the numkeys disturbing when typing texts with figures in it?
- Do clears have a actuation/resting point that is worse than browns? Are clears better if I prefer the weight of blues?

Hi,

If you don't mind de/soldering switches from the plate-mounted Filco boards, go for it.

MX Clear does have a slightly higher activation force compared to Brown.

Both MX Brown and Red have 45g activation force. If you want harder-to-press switches, then consider Blue (tactile and clicky) and Black (non-tactile and non-clicky).

And there's no switch which is "the best" for gaming. It all comes down to personal preference. Pick one you think that would meet your needs and just try it.

I'm quite sure about the arrow keys now, however I don't know if the browns in the numkeys will feel awkward

So it's all about double taps :)

I've only tried Brown swithch so far and it's really easy to double tap since all you have to do is "hover" around the actuation point. But I do believe that one can easily adapt to effectivelly double tap in any type of switch.
