Just wondering what you guys do with all your extra keyboards when you're not using it. I know some of you guys hoard keyboards like no tomorrow so i'm just wondering if there's an efficient way of keeping them safe in a nice shelf or something. Right now I got like 10 keyboards under my bed and sometimes I get nervous if my bed breaks then i'm screwed..
I see how clickykeyboard does it in those big clear plastic bins but is there any other way to store them a little more "fashionable"

The good (e.g. new or nearly so, and expensive) ones are in their original boxes when not in use. But I've only got three and I've got three computers, counting the one at work, so...
The other ones are thrown into a large-ish cardboard box.
Although now you've got me thinking, "gee, I really like those Model Ms..."

Most of them are stacked in two large cardboard boxes. One box (the one my Dell 22" monitor came in) is slightly larger allowing the keyboards therein to be stored vertically, next to each other.
Four full-sized keyboards, plus a Belkin Nostromo are crowding my desk. Two boards are in the shipping boxes I got them in.

I use a large plastic tub ($5) and stack them vertically so they dont scratch on each other.

I don't hoard keyboards. So I keep them on the desk.

MW keeps his in his basement. I wouldn't recommend that though.

If you've got access to anyone with a table saw, you can get them to build (or build yourself) shelving out of MDF for cheap. That's what I build quite a bit of my furniture with, actually - computer desk, a few kitchen counters, siderails for the stairs, a spice rack, and so on. Wood glue (I use Titebond II) with crown or finish staples to hold the pieces in place while it dries should hold for the rest of your life and your children's lives.
I like to use 3/4'' MDF, but 1/2'' should work too. No thinner than that, I think - and those are really the only two cost-effective thicknesses anyway. You can pick up sheets of it at Lowe's or Home Depot, and they can cut the 4x8'' sheets into more manageable pieces for free.
Oh, and with a little router work, sanding, and optionally painting it would even look good!

I just shove mine into my closet in such a way that they don't have the keys compressed. A few have ended up into boxes.

LOL! They sit on a towel to prevent them from sliding off when my music is on (rap=bass:smile:) My model M is shipping tomorrow I hope:) I just have a few old zenith boards with complicated green ALPS:D

my gf bought me an A/V shelving unit to store my keyboards. It has 2 cabinets and can hold quite a few. Since I repair and work on lots of them, I need a ton of storage space.

I use an Ikea ivar shelf...it was made for fullsize keyboards. I stand them next to each other so they dont exert pressure on the switches while im not using them.

I use heavy duty wire metal shelving with a plastic liner on each shelf. I keep them vertically on the shelf, and I have cheap bookends (like this (http://www.amazon.com/Universal-54051-Standard-Economy-Bookend/dp/B001E6CT8A/ref=sr_1_1?s=office-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1314464306&sr=1-1)) with the ends clipped such that each keyboard has its own little cubby like space. I still need to put that back together after my move, though.
For some I have original boxes, so they are kept stored in those until such time as I want/need them. I rarely keep too many around in storage though, as I prefer to either sell the ones I don't want, or use them for projects and such.

Sell everything you haven't used in the past year. This will help solving your storage problem.

I had some custom boxes made up for my keyboards (I have several hundred of them), and made some shelving to store the boxes on, and printed a label to put on the end of each box so I know what is inside without having to open it. I am though a bit worried about humidity/moisture, so am considering buying some silica gel packets in bulk and putting one in each box.
