It's these Chinese ALPS APC $40 clones that could tear up the market if Newegg carries them.

I dunno, hard to say.  The build quality on the one I picked up leaves a lot to be desired.  The switches feel ok but that's about where it stops.  The stabilizers (do Alps have them?) feel bad, the key tops are very "wobbly" and the keycaps themselves are incredibly thin and cheap feeling.  It also seems like the internals are pretty cheap, if I can ever get into it without destroying it I'll find out but from the weight it feels like an "all plastic" sort of build to me.

Sometimes you get what you pay for.  They do seem to be a cheap source of switches though at the very least.

It might be the layout that is keeping both mbc and sixty's AEKIIs from selling. I've been watching the market for an AEKII that's new or in great condition and would have snatched one of these up by now but layout is an important factor and I won't buy it unless it's a US model.

Hmm... I actually have an almost new one, which stocks in my room for a few months. I don't even think anyone would be interested in it, so I never try to sell it, haha:)
