Title: Cherry GDDG81-3000 (CLEAR)
Post by: grilkip on Tue, 30 August 2011, 08:30:02
It's a bit dirty, I'd clean it for decent bid, but I'm assuming that a buyer would probably use this to harvest switches so I'm not cleaning it yet.

Tadaa:

I'm undecided yet of the worth of this item, so if anyone wants it just give me a bid (via PM) and I'll consider it.

These are not clear switches but rather MY switches. The most unpopular switch in the keyboard scene! Realistically, the board is probably worth near to nothing. I threw away hundreds of these after harvesting the keycaps.

But good to understand why people hate them, these really suck!

You could use the parts for some things.

The key caps are of PBT, which is a high-quality plastic. I like them.
Unfortunately, only the 1-unit wide key caps, , / and are compatible with boards that have MX switches. The MX and MY switches have different stabilizers and the 1.25 unit wide keys on the bottom row have the stem in a different position.

The case is the same as G80-3000 (MX switches).

For the advanced modders: I found the MY switches to be useful when making functional (...) models for prototyping keyboard layouts. If I snap it off the board and cut off the legs, the bottom is flat and of the same height as a Cherry MX switch on a PCB.

Well if anyone cares to have it, let me know. Personally I'm not interested in any of the parts.

Actually, I could have a use for several of the parts myself, when I think about it.

PM sent.
