I have gotten it in my head that I NEED to have a Cherry MX red board. I have a 2 brown Filcos, and a black. I prefer typing on the black, but I get fatigued after a while, which is why I am obsessed with getting a red.
So I have searched wide and far for a Chery MX red board in a Filco style layout in the US. I've been unable to find any. I checked some chinese/TW sites, and they seemed to be out of stock as well. The closest I found was a Flico red board being sold at Keyboard Co UK, but would cost me close to 300 dollars after shipping.
I then found a Ducky red board for sale at Tiger Imports from a link on overclock.net. I haven't seen Tiger Imports in all my years of lurking here, so I am a bit wary of their service. (I did a search of the shopping wiki, and a global search of the forums for their name - found nothing.
Does anyone have any experience with this company? Any overall feedback about the Duckys vs filco? From what I've read, they seem very close to the Filco/Leopold boards, and have the layout that I love.
Thanks!
BTW, tried to post a link - the board won't let me for some reason. Any hints on how to link?

I'd buy a Poker X from iMav's group buy (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?21043-Poker-keyboard-ROUND-TWO!!-OFFICIAL-PRE-ORDER-PRE-PAYMENT-INSTRUCTIONS). They are fairly cheap. I cannot confirm any sort of reliability as I'm an ALPSoholic  People seem to like them though, plus you can get engraved PBT's or blanks etc. Good luck!

Aren't those all mini layouts? I need number pad, context menu button, 2 window keys.

Have you considered a Leopold FC500R?

I haven't! Do you have anywhere in the states with these in stock?

I've no idea where to purchase them in the states as I live in Singapore which have recently introduce them to retail level.
If you can wait, there's also the Rosewill RK9000-RE which Ripster was the first to post about it. Read here (http://www.overclock.net/keyboards/1100258-introducing-rosewill-rk-9000re-red-cherry.html)

In regards to Tiger Imports, I have an open order with them, I'll let you know how it goes.
-
Easiest way to get a Leopold FC500R is probably to order it from Leopold Japan. Should cost $135 with ems, or at least that is what my friend paid about a month and a half ago. The only Leopold distributor in US is elitekeyboards, but they only stock tenkeyless and not red switch.
NEVERMIND, appears that elitekeyboards.com just added them, so there you go.

Not bad, EK sells it for $109 and includes free keypuller to the first 300 customers
EDIT: just noticed this thread had that info already: http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?20689-full-size-leopolds-quot-coming-in-august-quot

OMG! awesome!
Too bad I just ordered a ducky from tiger imports - says they ship out. Hopefully I won't regret it.
I know that the ducky 1007 is known for some quality issues, how about the ducky 1008 series?
-
I have dealt with Tiger Imports, all i can say is that the service is very good.
<> shipping (fast)
<> phone support
<> Ducky arrived well packed.

How do you like your ducky?

Price and shipping:
the ducky was $ 112 plus $30 for shipping.

FWIW, I bought a ducky 1087 from tiger. They shipped it fast and were happy to answer questions I had. My problem was that I ordered the browns and what I got was all browns except the spacebar, which had a gray switch and felt wrong. I am sending it back to today and placed an order for a leo from EK (they confirmed that all switches are the same).
Tiger was very cool about the return, as long as it was in new condition, no problem.

Where were you having it shipped to? My entire invoice for a Ducky 1087 was only $98.08 from Tiger Imports. I'm assuming you got one of the full size ones that was more expensive?
-
Just received the Ducky 1087 today, all's well. Packaged well, appears to be brand new, came with extra lavender WASD key caps, 2 Ducky escape keys, a keyboard cover, and a keycap puller. All for under $100 delivered, pretty sweet deal. My first blue switch board too, it's fun! Not as loud as I was expecting. When typing a sentence it sounds like pouring handfuls of chicklet gum into a glass dish.
-
How's the Pingking Duck?
I think my Ducky pings, but I'm not sure. WASD does not ping.
-
Faint ping on backspace if you smack it, but thankfully no ringing like my Filco pre-foam. Just those satisfying clickity clicks.
-
From what I understand, Cherry blue 'boards don't resonate as much anyway since the click-slider (or whatever you call it) sends antipathetic waves that sort of cancel out the resonance. Glad to hear you like it. Duckys aren't so bad. I like mine quite a bit.
-
Congrats on the new board, is the spacebar switch blue or green? I had a Poker with blue switches for a while, it's a fun switch, but the keyboard had a green one for the spacebar which was stiffer and louder.
-
Spacebar switch is green. Feels a bit stiffer, but not by much. The detachable cable is handy, I can swap to the Poker and back on a whim.
-
Ah, I love detachable cables. I even swap between my Poker and a Canon P&S camera with the same cable, it's so handy.
