I got the Happy Hacker today and I absolutely love it! I don't think I will ever go back to a mechanical keyboard. Might be time to sell the Leopold's.
-
Lemme know if you decide to sell the browns for a decent price.
-
Awesome, I'm really jealous. That keyboard is definitely on my "to get" list for the future. How do you find it is adjusting to the small layout with all the function keys combinations?
Also, I would appreciate a word if you decide to get rid of the blues haha.
-
Congrats!
-
I'm not really have a problem with the small layout. The only problem I am having is the location of the backspace key and I also keep pressing the enter key instead of shift, other than that the keyboard is amazing!
-
Glad to see that you like the layout.
-
Went through a few keyboards before landing on the HHKB2 and sticking with it. Love it, I remap my laptop keyboard to have the delete above the enter now. The arrows don't bother me and feel fine there. The space saving aspect of it is terrific too! Especially for gaming, the keys are just top notch feeling.
-
I like the layout of the HHKB too (even though i dont own one, it seems nice).
I think one problem i might potentially have is the lack of F keys... I kind of like alt+f4, on a HHKB does it have to be Fn+Alt+4 ? And I suppose it might not be very comfortable for playing starcraft 2... since I use F keys a lot there.
Anyways, gratz on the purchase

Yea, that's correct. I made my left meta key another Fn key. That helps with accessing F keys on the left side of the keyboard. Of course, I also made sure to swap the alt and meta keys so they are in their right places.

One thing that is awesome about the HHKB layout in my opinion is the control key - it is so nice that I remapped the caps lock to be control on my Filco board -> Not having to curl the pinky finger = nice (:
-
hhkb isn't really for gaming right?
-
I used it to play starcraft for a while, but I wasn't by any means good. Though, the only reason I used it was because it was the only keyboard I had at the time with a hardware control in the proper spot. (I couldn't change the school's computers to remap caps lock to control)

I miss my HHKB :'-(
Only gripe was the arrow keys for programming.

Take the time to learn Vim. Voila, no arrow keys necessary :)

I love my HHKBs. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?
-
I loved the layout when I had mine. I never really liked the switches, though. An HHKB layout with Cherry browns would be my ultimate keyboard.
-
I'm loving the silent Topre of my Type-S with the slightly shorter key travel. I think it's closer to browns, but still not the same. Not worth $500, but still better than regular Topre. They should price them closer to 87U.
-
$500
Word, WTF. I went over to Elite to check them out and was floored by the price. $300 is hard enough to choke down let alone the extra $200 for "S"-ness.

The "S" is for "shut up and give us your money!"

The "S" is for "shut up and give us your money!"
Or, "Be silent to your 'significant other' about how much you just spent on a keyboard"
-
Hey, if you have the money, then why not? As long as you're not in the situation where your kids aren't eating because you bought a keyboard..
-
Or you could just eat your kids. Problem solved.
-
Or sell the kids first and then buy the keyboard.
-
Selling in a recession is tough... you may try renting them out.
