Title: Semi Otaku IBM Modal M 1390120 (bolt modded)
Post by: prd on Mon, 26 September 2011, 10:36:46
This lovely Model M part number 1390120 is bolt modded and comes with otaku caps (only the 1 size keys, as obviously pictured). I sold a few Ms in the past months and this is probably the last M I'm selling from my current collection.

Aside a small dent (see pictures), it is in superb condition. It types beautifully. As compared to other Ms I had under my fingers (bolt modded or not), the key feel on this one is a bit tighter. Kind of sturdy. Key feel and ping are both really consistent throughout the board. This being my 4th or 5th bolt mod, I think it was quite a success. As a personal choice, I especially like the typing machine feel the spacebar has. For the less knowledgeable, This M is an early model and, as a side note, it is the oldest M I put my hands on 'till now.

I cleaned it inside out when I did the bolt mod and used it for about 30 minutes since then, so it is absolutely clean. Bolt mod was done with high quality steel bolts and nuts. No corners cut here. I changed the ESC spring with the same occasion (it was bent; instead of a new one, I changed it with a harvested one from an 1986 0141, to preserve the original feel).

I will also include all the original caps this keyboard had (mind though, few of them are a bit scratched).

I will include a cord that's not stretched or a new one, depending on how good we get along. I might also throw in some colored caps (especially for the larger keys), as a bonus.

Price: [STRIKE]100 USD + shipping[/STRIKE] SOLD

Dude, if you weren't in Romania, I'd be all over this. But shipping from there to here? WAY TOO MUCH.

I could try to offer you a deal, but more than throwing in some colored caps (which I would probably do for anybody), I don't know what I could do more.

Shipping to US, for a 4 kilos package (actually somewhere above 3 kilos, but still 4 kilos paid) is
- USD 31.8 Standard shipping
- USD 49.15 Priority shipping

By the way, I'm still looking for a box to ship it in.

I'm in Bucharest. By the way, I sent a package to Australia ("par avion") in July and it still hasn't arrived. Do these things happen often with your mail?

It cost me USD 250 in PayPal refund. I blame Australia for it.

I wouldn't have been so quick to refund. I would have waited 6 months. You never know how long it could take. Australia has a despersed population over a large area, so AusPost do the best they can.

He probably didn't choose to...I'd put my money on Paypal forcing him to because that is what they like to do.

Yes. Buyer opened a claim and I lost. PayPal promised they will nicely ask the buyer to refund back, when the keyboard will arrive.

By the way, deal pending.

We have the worst customs here.

Would you have anything in July? Mum will be in Moldova Noua most of the time, how much would shipping to there or Timisoara cost?

Model Ms are so hard to find here, and shipping from other countries is so bad :(

Shipping within Romania is so cheap it doesn't really matter.

As for having something at that moment, I don't know, I'm not exactly a keyboard seller.
