Post by: whiskerBox on Mon, 03 October 2011, 22:30:12
there is a seller on ebay named elpmex and he has 3 different models and QTY.10 of each = 30 boards for around 50$ O.B.O + 13$ shipping
G81-7000HUAUS
G81-1822HQMUS
G81-1800HQMUS

harberj has QTY.10 of G81-7910HPBUS-2 @ 30$ Buyitnow + 15$ shipping

All together thats 40 sets of double shots for the same price each as a set of keycaps from WASD

Unfortunately I dont think I can swing it right now but hopefully everybody can get some cool double shots ;)

the prices are per keyboard sorry!

I was just saying that the price of 1 of these keyboards with double shots would be about the same as a set of custom key caps from WASD.

I just know a lot of people were looking for them even though these are still a little price

personally I think I am going to wait until 2015(jk. seems like forever) and order some from group buy 4

What is the difference between G81-1822HQMUS and G81-1800HQMUS.
Also, what type of Cherry MX switches are inside those two?

Little to no difference, they are Cherry white on black DS. Cherry MY switches, they are sliders over membrane and IMO do not feel as good as ANY cherry mx switch.

Can't the keycaps from these boards be harvested to use on other boards with MX switches? say a filco?

This was why I posted the thread orginally. Maybe I am confused, I just assumed these would fit on other cherry mx switches

yes they can, but you need to mod the caps lock, space bar, and control, alt, windows, and menu keys.  I did just that and it works OK, although I'm still waiting on a moogle kit which hopefully will improve the appearance greatly.

Hmm so this might be better for a partial double shot kit or alpha kit then.

it's perfect if you can get a moogle kit and you can get them inexpensively enough.  As opposed to the G80-1800 type boards which still won't work perfectly as the numpad, right shift, etc. are all wrong and the Delete/End/PgDn keys are R4 instead of R3 profile.  It's about as good as you're going to get I think, unless you buy one of the $80-something kits from whoever it was was selling them here.  And even on those you still need to mod the caps lock key.
