This issue is resolved, you can view the new posts page (excluding member forums) (http://geekhack.org/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post&exclude=85,87,88) or use a greasemonkey script to filter posts in the member forums in the spy (https://www.userscripts.org/scripts/show/115757).
Also consider using this greasemonkey script (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/114458) to enhance the usability of the new posts page a bit.
---
If people keep bringing threads up, that you just don't care about, there should be a button to ignore those threads. Forever. Across all of your computers.
-
I am already ignoring this
-
There should also be a button to ignore specific people.
-
There already is an ignore list for people. Threads on the other hand... not so much.
-
If you got so many things you want to ignore on this forum. I would think twice about coming here if I were you.
-
No need to feel offended, it's just about convenience. And I don't believe ignoring certain people is the right solution. Being able to shut that "Banned?" discussion up, is.
It can be achieved with Greasemonkey, but then you'd end up with different ignore-lists on every computer you own. Saving these lists server-side would be better.
-
Doesn't matter, it's just not as relevant as the main forums. Come to think of it, it probably would suffice to exclude member subforums from the new-posts page or rather make the latter customizable.
It would also be nice to know what iMav thinks of these suggestions and if they'll ever be implemented in one way or another.

Exactly what I wanted, thank you!
-
any easy link like that for the spy?
or maybe we can make the mostly sane link permanent on the menu like a third option for spy or something. (too lazy to search all the time)

Just took a quick look at vaispy.php and it already has hard-coded exclude functionality, you'd just have to read which forums to exclude from the url. Or add forum-id CSS classes.
Meanwhile here's a fix that works for old spy in Firefox on Windows 7

Thanks! In Firefox 3.6.xx (on XP, but I don't think that matters), 'document.head.appendChild(s);' didn't work, but replacing it with 'document.documentElement.getElementsByTagName( "HEAD" )[0].appendChild(s);' did the trick.

Meh.

Well played.

I hope geekhack stops getting infected. Turning javascript off reduces the indifference level somewhat.
Geekhack Spy Shades (https://www.userscripts.org/scripts/show/115757) does a great job enhancing the old spy - easily customisable to ignore any subforums and/or users you like - I'm surprised more people haven't downloaded it. Meta-indifference I guess.
The Filtered New Posts (http://geekhack.org/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post&exclude=85,87,88,67,70) links still work regardless of javascript.
-
Meanwhile at keyboardlover.com, I get more views than that in a month.
-
I will compliment you: It's improving! Only 92% of viewers are searchbots now!

There's no reason to be, this was resolved long ago.

Updated AutoPilot (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/114458) to work with the Nostalgia Theme.
