Post by: leotnnz on Fri, 07 October 2011, 18:20:28
just received my camo with blue switch. looks good. but i found a problem with the direction key "up". it is not centered properly, closer to right frame than left. do you guys who have camo have this problem also? or it is just on my unit?

thx.

You sure it is not the keycap's problem?  How does it look with the original Filco up arrow keycap?

Oh crap.  RMA it.  Are all keycaps shifted to the right or just the up arrow?  Does the up arrow switch line up with the down arrow switch?

My G1 is the same way. I never would have noticed it had I not just looked for it due to this thread. You are nit picking. Its a non issue imo.

I don't love my keyboard any less.

i found it when i pulled out the key caps where the frame block the puller. it is easy to feel the difference from my other filco keyboards.

thx, reaper. did you feel any trouble when pull out the keycap? i mean no enough room for puller to sit down. is this only happening to Amazon batch?

You're welcome and yup, like demik pointed out.  Mine came straight from Korea (with Iomania sticker on the box) and I had a little trouble pulling out that keycap.

OOh so this is the filco flaw.  If you got this from amazon you can just return it. They have a good return policy.

Just noticed mine as well...  Definitely not aligned.  Must be across the board with the 1st batch.

My Filco MJ2 Tenkeyless also has the same of set.
Filco's first flaw. Oh Noes, there goes Filco reputation.

Cooler Master Storm RapidFire seem to have a better casing but still have a slight offset.
But I wonder how soon before the rubber coat becomes an issue...

I have the exact same thing on my MJ2 10KL, so it's probably not just a single batch but rather a design error.

It's a bit tricky to insert the keypuller but it doesn't bother me, after all, it's just the up key.

Clearly Filco reputation is about key feel and build quality but not alignment.

For alphabetical and number rows, you can easily find out many other misaglignments too, since all keys are not in the same shape and length.

According to that standard, all of mechanical keyboards are misaligned.

I have the same - up arrow key on my FILCO TKL ninja majetouch 2 - same offset as illustrated by squarbox [in fact I would say worse ... almost touching] - I can still fit a keycap remover... just not laterally

On the quest for perfection, Filco keyboard is still a product with so much defects and so high price.

lol, i am never been bothered by the Ping, though i know what it is and i bet mine have ping ping ping!!!

i suppose i am not an overrated guy. but is case alignment not so called build quality? a few bucks damn rubber dome could make alignment fine. why not a $160 kb?

i love filco's kb and have several. but alignment trouble is i first met this time. and this alignment makes me need the trick to pull out the key caps. if it does not, i will be fine to live with it.

does filco say "love me, love my dog"???

So I guess it has been like this since Majestouch 1 but no one noticed until now.

Wait till you see the problems Ducky and Xarmor face...

I love how case alignment was one of the big "quality issues" with Duckys when, in reality, even Topre has case alignment issues on the RF 'boards.  TBH, the 9008 series Duckys are just as good as any Filco, Leopold, etc. but were boo-hooed by the Geekhack FUD machine.

Ripster posted some off-center, Model M cases in his subforum, too.  In the end, it's just a keyboard.

This is going to become the new ping... again.

I have a similar problem with my Filco (MJ 1), the keycaps on the left side near the edge are actually scratching the case when they move up.
I actually didn't care and noticed just today this was a problem when my left shift key was not clicking anymore because of this, replaced the SP shift keycap with a Cherry doubleshot and it was clicking again, but still it's scratching.
