Title: Favorite Stabilizer ?
Post by: Farsiite on Mon, 10 October 2011, 13:41:03
i don't think i've ever seen a thread about this. only bits and pieces of information scattered throughout other threads. but i was wondering what the general most preferred stabilizer tends to be? i only have a cherry board so it's the only thing i've ever been able to try. just wondering what the general opinions are of all the other stabilizers. along with who prefers which and why.

This should be a poll, honestly.

But I'm gonna throw in and go with Costar/Filco.

i'd make it a poll but to be honest i don't even know what all the different kinds of stabilizers are. just a few of the big names. filco leopold cherry etc.

I say don't worry about it.

Those who are very picky about uniform key typing feels are going to tell you Costar/Filco stabilizer, where as the rest are fine with just any.

For me, it depends a lot on the switch. Linear switch I could care less, but with tactile, blue especially I prefer Costar type as it keeps the crisp snap. But when it comes to keycap swapping Cherry style wins by a landslide as they are less of a pain.

I can hardly tell the difference to be honest. Either one works well. Cherry corps are easier to pull which is nice.

I don't feel the difference at all, but I also always hit the space bar in the center of the board.

Mainly because Costar style stabilizers don't affect the feel of the switch. So my Enter/Shift/Space/Backspace keys all feel like the rest of the board.

I prefer Costar stabilizer much more over Cherry stabilizers. I just got my first cherry stabilized board a few days ago, and the force required to push the keys down is a bit greater on the stabilized keys than I thought it would be. I imagine it may have an effect on what switch type is with the stabilizer (heavier switches not being effected as much).

Since I'm using brown switches, I feel like it may be more noticeable because of the light force required to push down brown switches. It's not a massive deal, but I've noticed it more than I thought I would.
