Hello everybody,
I've ordered an Unicomp 122-Key Terminal Emulator with some custom keycaps (RGB-modifiers, stuff like that) on 23th August. Jim contacted me and asked me some questions about this order, and the last mail asking for some information from him arrived on 14th September. I answered this on the next day, and haven't received any further notification from Unicomp or Jim. I sent Jim another message 12 days ago, and didn't receive any reply. Slowly I'm becoming impatient.
Do you know anything that might have caused this delay?
I'm thinking about calling them, but I'm suffering from a cold at the moment, so I can't speak, and I'm not quite sure, how to read their phone number. (I'm always confused with international phone numbers) It says: 1-800-777-4886 . Is the 1 in front the country calling code? So here in Germany I would have to dial 0018007774886/+18007774886, right? Just wondering...
greetings,

Ah, Neutrinos!

Sure. And how are the Illuminati involved in this?
Well, I guess I will just wait a little bit more. Anyone else had this impression?
But now this phone number caught my interest. What do they mean by saying "toll-free" and "(ext. 202 or 206)"?
-
Mine took forever. Couple of weeks as I recall until I had it in my hands.
-
The 1 is necessary inside the US for dialing long distance. I don't think it's relevant when dialing from outside the US. Could be wrong though. Google will know.

Toll free means no long distance charges, and ext stands for extension. 800 is a special area code in the US for toll free numbers. So what this number means is dial 1 for long distance, 800 as the (special toll-free) area code, and 777-4886 as the actual number you are calling. Once someone picks up, you tell them the extension number and you will be connected with the person you need to talk to.

Yeah, I read the Wikipedia article about the NANP, and now it's much more clear. Anyway I'll have to wait until I call them, as the only thing they would hear would be coughing. Good thing one can still type!

My Unicomp took about two weeks from ordering until it turned up here in the UK.

I don't think that the toll free number will work for international callers. You may need to email Jim for a direct number to call instead. Hopefully someone will know the number and can append it here for you.

Indeed. I was talking about inside the US only. I have no idea how it works when calling from Germany.

ordered yellow wasd set and red esc on a monday, they got shipped next day and arrived saturday.
he said the yellow set had to be printed.. so i guess i got lucky with the quick order
-
I think you can email them also, jim answered my email promptly.
-
As I said, Jim hasn't answered my mails for a month now, so I started worrying. I think calling them will be possible, I read in some German forums, that nearly all U.S. toll-free numbers are available from other countrys too, by dialling the country calling code (instead of the U.S. long-range prefix "1-"). They aren't toll-free then, but it's possible.
I would accept this waiting, when they would have told me about it, but without any information about the status of my order, I'm slowly getting impatient after two month without anything happening.
I also looked up the order confirmation, and the "Order Status", as well as the "Tracking" field is blank there.
I want my Unicomp keyboard now! I can't stand typing on blacks anymore!

Use skype, you can call Jim for free
-
He's on Skype? Well, that'd be better than nothing. I haven't used Skype for ages now. Could you PM me his ID?
Edit: D'oh! Now I'm pretty sure I misunderstood what you said. You meant calling the toll-free number using skype, right?

Try this number, 859-233-2130 and see if you can get a hold of the operator. This used to be Chuck Cropper's number before he retired. I am assuming that the number may be used by someone else but if he picks up the phone, he should be able to transfer you to the appropriate person. Chuck's extension was 206.
