I'm pleased to announce we will be stocking some Unicomp Keyboards.
The first models arrive around the end of October.
-
Damn. The Keyboard Co.'s taking over. Nice work.
-
Awesome, good work.
-
Clever move! Keep up the good work, #1 keyboard distribution company.
-
They'll all be new to us!
-
Great news. :]
-
Would this include dvorak layout keyboards? And how much are they going to be?
-
Nice idea. Will you be stocking keycaps and parts too?
-
But will they have the same good ole Kentucky customer service?

If you look at people opinions of TheKeyboardCo on here it is nothing but good so I would expect so. Obviously the turn around of faulty items may be a bit longer if the have to get stock from Unicomp.
-
Perhaps some new models????.....a space saving iso layout??? ;)
-
Hope your other halves / poor fellow cubiclists have ear defenders. I might get one for old time's sake.
-
More popular layouts out there?
-
We're starting out with a couple of basic models and no extras but the good news is stock arrived today. We're getting the listing on http://www.keyboardco.com today.
So we are Unicomp a-gogo.
White UK PS2 model is the closest thing to an IBM Model M 1391406 so I had to start with those.
And we also have UK Black EnduraPro with USB.
Let me know what bits and bobs you want and we'll see what we can do on the next order.
The guys in Kentucky have done us proud!

They seem somewhat more expensive than if I imported them myself.

I'd like to see how you work that one out! You already know how I worked it out...
To get one direct from Unicomp to the UK would be something like $79 + $50 shipping + $26 taxes (20% of price + shipping) + £8 customs clearance fee, which comes to £104.
-
Yep. I expect they are a little. I don't know what carriage you would pay but it will be pretty close if you are in the UK as then there will be no added carriage.
Of course, with us, you will be adding 20% for the taxman, whereas that comes later if you import. If that doesn't give you a nice warm feeling then buying from us and benefiting from our first rate, friendly service and after sales care is bound to do the trick.
-
Didn't think too much about import tax. I think it is awful they charge it us on the shipping.
-
It does seem harsh. They make the carrier collect it on delivery.
It's effective, it's easy - and they're not about to let you dodge it.
-

Totally agree with that! Plus, the £8 fee (which is a significant % on low value shipments) is outrageous too, considering how little they have to do to pass something through customs and collect the charge.

So you pay for the admin involved. Salt and Wound spring to mind.
