Title: Editing existing keycaps

Hey guys,

I'm a new member and i have been enjoying my time on this forum so far, very kind community with awsome people so thumbs up for GH! :thumb:
Now back to the topic at hand.. i was wondering if there is a certain paint or coating that you could just buy from a convenience store to paint on the sides of your keys and make some masterpieces? (notice i said sides and not top)
obviously i am limited in terms of where i can paint on keycaps because of wear issues, but what about sides? anyone here with good experiences with certain paints/coats (or bad ones)?

ripster what type of paint/clearcoat would you suggest.. there are too many types of paint on the planet.. help me out here xD

Edit: THE GAMES-WORKSHOP!!!! yes i remember! (runs off into the shadows deviously mumbling stuff)

i want to do something similar to do some custom side printing to dark keycaps.  if you can print it with a lazerjet, you can do this.  and it should be pretty permanent considering you're not putting it on the top of the key.

i love that idea! unfortunately the link provided in that other forum doesn't work so i'm not entirely sure which kit you used.. =/ fill me in on that one please

i haven't done this yet, i found that link one time when i was looking for some white decals to do some custom lettering on the sides of some keys.  

i'll see what information i can track down.  

The stuff he used reminds me of Embossing powder.  i'm sure it's probably the same thing, but i have yet to test it.  Considering that he's just printing the image onto the decal paper then putting the powder on it, setting the powder, i would imagine it just is some embossing powder.  the decal paper is the part that would allow the transfer.  i know most Decals are transferred using water, the only question is if embossing powder is water soluble.  as long as it isn't water soluble, regular embossing powder would work for this with decal transfer paper
