Title: Weighted Keyboards
Post by: HeavyArms on Tue, 18 October 2011, 02:17:29
I really love the weight my Filco has to it, doesn't move at all and a solid keyboard. Does anyone know any other mechanical keyboard brands that have that same weighted feel I should explore?

Pretty much anything plate-mounted will give some semblance of that feel, depending on the material of the plate. I found that the PLU ML87 didn't quite feel as solid as the Filco, but the Das Keyboard was almost indistinguishable. However, one of the reasons I feel that Filcos feel so solid on the desk is the rubberized popup feet. Those make a huge difference in how the board feels.

I get these rubber feet from Radio Shack http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103342

I stick two to the rear bottom of each of my 87U keyboards.  The already solid 87U now is even more stable.

Minus the Kbc Poker and G80, Just about all the popular mechanicals made today are plate-mounted
