Title: Spacebars Modded to fit Leopolds
Post by: TheProfosist on Wed, 19 October 2011, 02:34:13: Something came up during the groupbuy for the universal spacebars and I offered my services to mod Filco sized spacebars to fit Leopolds. Since then people have pmed me asking to do this for them.

The price for one is $14.00 shipped (within the continental US. I will ship worldwide for an additional cost). Additional spacebars are $10.00. If you would like your spacebars to come with the o-ring mod it is an additional $1.00 per key (one o-ring per stem). I order the spacebars along with 2xR1 1x1 keys from WASD Keyboards and will make them in any color they offer. Also if you would rather send my your spacebar and have me mod it instead I can. For o-rings I use the 50A durometer Nitrile ones from WASD Keyboards. If you have any questions please ask.

If you would like your Caps Lock and Scroll Lock modded (http://tinyurl.com/6dyl75q) along with your Spacebar it is an additional $10.00. To speed up the process of getting the keys orders of Spacebars and Caps Lock/Scroll Lock will be combined to meet the free shipping requirement of $10.

If you need a spacebar for your Leopold or Cherry stabilizer keyboard sooner than later order now. Otherwise I need to wait until I have a minimum total order of 3 spacebars (or if I order somehing) as WASD Keyboards minimum order of $10 to get free shipping.

I may also start modifying Caps Lock and Scroll Lock keys to have led windows for Leopold's as one of my friends has asked for such a mod.

Sadly WASD has stopped the free shipping over $10 so I have to add an additional $1.50 to the price of this mod to cover the price of shipping from him to me.

I have a couple of the caps, one already has the old stem removed, but my superglue transplant sheared off today, so I'm looking to let someone better at it do it for me :D The cap is currently off-center post, and it needs to be centered to work on newer non-cherry corp boards. come to think of it, I have a couple of other cherry caps (dolch) that need to have stems replaced because of brittle plastic. Are you up for the job? How much to fix each stem? I'm thinking 2-6 caps depending on price and yr availability for such a project. Thanks in advance!

I have at least 4 keys that I'd like fixed immediately, and another 10 or so that have hairline cracks (Dolch!!!) in the stem so they fit loosely, and will not stay on the switch stems at all. The ones with the cracks are the ones that eventually break off cleanly, and I'd like to do preventative care on them before the entire set becomes useless... In any case, $140 for stem repairs is not something I can afford or justify. If it were a single key like a spacebar or caps lock, I'd be on it. Best I learn to do it for myself.

Well I have never done more than 3 at a time I am sure could do all of them ofr a more reasonable price but it would take a while as it is a semi time consuming process.

Got some tips from someone very familiar with ABS and I'll be throwing out the superglue method and trying something new. If it works as well as I expect, I'll be pm'ing you the process in case it helps you out with quality and/or speed :D

yea still doing it i know I havnt updated in a while i should have a jig for full size leopolds soon as well and will me modding stepped and off-center caps locks

yes that is the best way unless you getting WASD keycaps.

yea I plan on changing that. I can only knock 2$ off really if you provide the spacebar as that would be the price of the spacebar and the shipping from WASD for it.
