Title: Any Keyboard with Cherry MX Brown/Black
Post by: Nurburgring on Sat, 22 October 2011, 16:44:03
I'm interested in getting any keyboard with cherry mx brown or black.
(Preferably Cherry, Ducky, Noppoo, etc. as those seem to be closest to the budget)
(Preferably 6KRO or NKRO)
My budget is around $30-$60 but i would be open to any offers if necessary.
This will be my first mechanical keyboard and i would truly appreciate it if you mates can help me out :hail:

Please let me know:
1. Model
2. Price
3. Condition
4. Any special notes?

Best regards,
Nurburgring

Hi,
where are you from? I have several boards with cherry blacks for sale in germany, all of them with ISO de layout. Mostly in your price class as well.

I'm currently located in Texas, United States at the moment, although i would definitely rather be in Germany right now.
Would you be interested in shipping them?

The international shipping alone might be scraping the bottom of your budget; $30-60 isn't a lot to work with when it comes to mechanicals.

Yeah i do acknowledge that fact very clearly.
This was the reason why i wanted to make sure to give notice about.
However, i would be more than willing to work with anyone who wishes to offer something more expensive.

Well I can say this for certain: Good luck in your exploration of mechanical keyboards; you will not be disappointed.

Its actually the opposite of that now; Its a left to right slash rather than the right to left and the F-row clusters are now all the same color rather than the individual keys alternating.

I like this better than "forward slash" style.  Reads more like stripes than checkerboard.

OP, you're not likely to get a "modern" board in your price range.  Old Cherry POS boards like the ones Bini has for sale are great starter boards though, and relatively cheap (and easily mod-able).

i'll be happy without modern board if that's that is the last option.
as long as it functions as i preferred, i'll be happy even with the point of sale keyboards
finding the POS keyboards with preferred switches were possible but it's just that i haven't been able to find one over 2kro

Why the low budget? Are you just looking to try out how the switches feel? Honestly its worth saving up the extra $20 to find a better keyboard, as most of the Leopolds, duckys, and noppos go for around $80.

i'm mainly looking for any used keyboard and most of the noppoo's go for around $80 new, therefore would be great to see someone with used one for lesser price

You open a lot more options if you include blues in your search. Then you could get an M10 from Amazon. Browns and blacks, you don't really have that opportunity. Consider watching ebay for a Compaq MX 11800? You can get those for roughly $45 from time to time. Given, they're kind of large, if I recall correctly.

My girlfriend uses a Compaq 11800 modded to "ghetto reds". It is a nice keyboard.
