Wow that is so cool of them. I bet they'll sell a lot to people buying it juts for the memories and novelty. Not sure they'll appeal to the younger generation, but very neat of them to stick with their guns this late into the game.
btw, for those interested - $1499 pricetag
-
Way overpriced for what's inside. Yet I still want one.
-
Moss has one too.

Was posted already. Blue Cherry MX.
Anybody know what the originals were?
Weren't they complicated white alps or something? I thought I read about it on here somewhere.
I was about to say this was overpriced, then I read that It's got updated hardware onboard. Ships with linux!
Now I know that it's acceptibly overpriced. :p

None of them had Cherry switches.
Linear with conductive rubber switches. Possibly made by Mitsumi, like many other keyboards for Commodore.
-
Totally Mitsumi. Carbon-contact. Not very pleasant to press, but I find the keycaps' shape awfully comfortable, though that may just be the nostalgia glow.
Also, "Somehow or another, Commodore USA is still kicking, and they announced today..." ? Really? Commodore USA is just a bunch of guys who bought the rights to the name Commodore and have been selling gaming PCs, they have nothing else to do with the original company.

commodre keycaps are awesome spherical, keyswitches were terribad, these new keycaps look cylindrical to me?

I think it's an awesome idea and very well executed. I'd love to see a resurgence of all-in-one computers with proper keyboards.
However, I won't be buying one because they're insanely overpriced. The barebones kit (which is basically just a large keyboard) on its own costs $349 plus shipping!
It looks like their strategy is to try and soak the C64 fanboys for every penny they can get. But that well will rapidly run dry. There's no way they're going to reach the mass market unless they massively reduce their prices.

Nah, the new ones are just a plainer kind of spherical: shallow depressions in a square. The originals have style and character:

This one was rubber dome? I need to go check it again. It's in museum and I have to figure out a plan to have my son divert the guard to pull the key.
I didn't know what those late-model PETs had, but looking it up now, it seems they're carbon-contacts too, probably Mitsumi as well: http://www.commodorecomputerclub.com/cleaning-a-pet-4032-keyboard/

I might just be interested in a barebones setup. The one thing I would have to make sure of though is that it can take a GFX card even if it is a low profile one.

I actually think it's not too bad, and if the quality holds up, I'm sure they'll sell quite a few of these. It's definately cool.
