So, I was interested in a Phantom, but was sad that it only fits the Filco TKL :(
I ended up getting a CMstorm instead. It's great, but that's beyond the scope of this post.
I wanted to do a quick review of it, so I opened it up to take some pictures. While in there, I had the Phantom PCB picture up on my laptop, and I noticed some alarming similarities.
Here are my terrible pictures of it. I'm going to see if I can convince my photographer friend to take some proper ones later (I'll probably buy him lunch, as we need to catch up anyway)
My image program crashed when trying to save the picture of the PCB I've stitched together, so I'll upload them as individuals. I do have a shot of the case stitched together, but it's pretty terrible.
Also has anyone opened a WASD before? I also have pictures of that. It was somewhat surprising, where the controller was located on it.

Just tell me if you want more pictures, or anything specific. I don't have a caliper, but I do have a ruler.

So the F7 hole has been moved to between F5/F6 to accommodate the USB connector doohickey.... interesting.

Yes, also the one near to shift and A looks to be a little higher in the CMstorm (closer to capslock).
Ofcourse there's no reason it wouldn't fit, given a little modification.

The CMstorm bottom case looks very similar to Filco's. The supporting posts are at the same location. The Filco PCB looks to be better made though. Warning large picture embedded! :-)

So looks like the filco's screw there holding it together is right in the middle under the cable entry. It's offset on the CMstorm. I also notice that all the other posts just hold up the plate.
What's up with the two different filco PCB's is only one of those NKRO?

Excuse me, but where is your "quick review?"

The one on the left is Filco 1. The one on the right is Filco 2.

I haven't written it yet of course.
The difference between a quick review and a long one is quite a bit (a month vs. a year). As such, it should take me some time to compile enough qualitative analyses to make it. Of course anything shorter counts as an impression.

Nice warranty
O wait :P

I'm a fan of repairing my own stuff. Also it's unlikely that I'd ever return it under warranty anyway. Plus, if I really had to, I'd just get another "ok" sticker and go from there.

Would the CM and Filco cases be interchangeable?

Damn.
Caved anyway and ordered the MX Blue version from a local store. Really wanted the combination of removable cable, under key LEDs and Costar stabilisers. Will post impressions when I receive it.

Yes, unfortunately the CMstorm moved the screw that holds the top case to the bottom over a bit (to accomodate the USB entry). Also, there may or may not be an incompatibility somewhere near the shift/capslock area.
You could get away with it pretty easily, if you wanted to forego the screw, file down the excess, and just use the case clips to hold it together.
