Title: Release Date of CM Storm Rapidfire for NA
Post by: Gfresh404 on Sun, 13 November 2011, 00:26:29
Anyone know any official date for when these boards are coming to the States? I've heard three different things:

1. Available Oct. 18th (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J13-riodZj4http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J13-riodZj4)
2. Sometime in November
3. December/Early Janurary (http://www.overclock.net/t/1102940/cm-storm-quick-fire-rapid/110) (post #116)

Still kind of wondering how these can be so cheap if they're essentially rebranded Filco's, but I guess that's what Rosewill's keyboards so it kinda makes sense.

Is Filco a premier brand in Asia where you pay a significant amount extra just for the name? Almost like how Apple is here in the states

Less markup and they expect to sell more of them to spread out the R&D cost. They're also not going to import at low volume like the specialty distributors. You'd be crazy if you think they cost anywhere near Filco price to manufacture.

Despite the fact that it's brown vs. red switches, do you notice any real different between your CM Storm and your Filco besides the obvious cosmetic/keycap differences?

Marketing and bulk sales to retailers. Most keyboards are only sold to distributors.

Distributor =/= retailer

Also, excluding the Mac Pro, apple products actually cost on average 75% of the sale price to produce...

Not really, other than the fact it has higher pitched bottom out sound.

Don't know if this was already posted somewhere but I e-mailed CM about the keyboard for the US and the reply I got was:

"Hello,
These will be available in US around the end of December to the beginning of January. MSRP is $99.99 at this time."
