So I'm looking for my first mechanical keyboard and I'm pretty much sold on the ducky shine. I'm just more curious about the proxy switches it uses on the spacebar/enter keys etc. I've read that those are bad somewhere on here, but I haven't seen anyone explain exactly *why* they are bad. Are they even bad? Ducky seems to advertise this as a plus. The biggest bonus for me for this keyboard is the Cherry MX Browns and the back lighting. I love backlit keyboards, and I don't really wanna gamble on a razer.

I'm not familiar with the Ducky Shine in particular, but as far as I know, the Ducky keyboards use Cherry stabilizers for their big keys. There are a number of people who prefer the Costar stabilizers that have a wire over the Cherry ones that are like fake switches, since they think the Cherry stabilizers feel too mushy. It's not a huge difference and if you're not familiar with both types of stabilizers, I think it's unlikely that the Cherry ones found on a Ducky would bother you.
While I do *slightly* prefer the feel of the Costar stabilizers, it's significantly easier to remove/add keycaps on Cherry stabilizers.

Some people are bothered by the Cherry style stabilizer as it can make the switch that uses them feel a little different than single keys. For brown switch backlit, the Shine is definitely the better choice regardless.

Just ordered a Ducky Shine DK9008S with Cherry MX Brown switches from TigerImports.net. There's a 5% off coupon on their Twitter page as well... This will be my first mechanical keyboard since the early '90s so I'm interested to see how this turns out. ;)

Good to know :).
Also, thanks for clearing that up, I was mostly worried about durability and stuff.

I ordered the Ducky Shine from Tiger also. Also ordered the soft landing stabilizers.
Just wanted to send a big thanks to everyone here who has provided good information and reviews.
It was between the Deck Legend and the Shine. I'm sure I'd be happy either way.
