Title: Replacement for my "Microsoft Internet Keyboard"??? (what kind of switches)
Post by: wakakaa on Mon, 14 November 2011, 13:10:23
I have been using the "Microsoft Internet Keyboard" for nearly 10 years....
Unfortunately, it has been killed by a cup of water few days ago....

Today, I just bought Ducky 1008 (Taiwanese brand, with/ Cherry Black Switches), and i realized that i couldn't get use to it. I always have many typo. (even worst than the one in my office.....). I can't take this anymore.....

My question is:
1. Anyone know what type of switches was used in that "Microsoft Internet Keyboard"? (so i can buy a keyboard with the same switches); or
2. Any other suggestion for the replacement keyboard?

Thank you so much!

The Microsoft uses ultra cheap rubberdomes. Closest to that feeling are the Topre switches, but these keyboards are really expensive...

What's the closest option if my budget is about US$100?
Ducky 1008? Blue or Brown??? (I can swap the new one, or other brands, but not refundable)

Thanks!

If it should be a mechanical keyboard with MX switches I would say Clears are closest to rubberdomes, but still a different feeling.

Tarkoon, thanks for your reply.....

So i have 2 choices right now, Topre rubberdomes AND Cherry MX Clear.....
Would you please recommend one for both switches?

Thanks!

You won't find a keyboard with Topre switches for $100.

I think you should go with Cherry MX Brown, since you don't like the higher-resistance Cherry MX Black (which have the same spring as the Clears).

That, or get another rubber dome. I'd give Keytronic a go.

(Sorry, i know nothing about Keyboard Switches before i bought the stupid Ducky Black Switch)

Actually I found that Tactile is a must for me, so that i could feel what i am typing, isn't it?

1. At this point, should i go for Cherry MX Brown? or Clear? (since you suggested Clear)???
2. Also, would you please explain further on the "effect" of rubberdome? (I am not too sure if i really want it)
