Thinking of investing in a the quietude of an "S" version for the office, and considering the black keycaps. In low lighting folks complain that the text disappears. Anyone have that same issue at the office, or is that muted grey colour showing up ok?
I hate the thought of having to nose down every time I need to find a number key or something...I have to look to type a number or symbol.
Thanks for any responses.

No problem seeing the letters on the keys at the office. I would use it all the time if I hadn't been stupid and ordered the tkl version :P

I'm using a black 86UB at work. I had problems seeing the text on the black keys (same problem at home also). I finally got frustrated enough so that I bought a set of blue keycaps for my white 87U and then used those keycaps on my black 86UB.

I used to - great keyboard for the office!

Although if you need to look at the keyboard to find your # keys, I think you might wanna go with the white keycaps. I used to have a black HHKB and switched to a white one. Now I have a white Realforce. I rarely look at the keyboard...

I use a 103 at work and have had no issues seeing the lettering. Just make sure you have some lighting!

No problems here! the bright fluorescent lighting makes it easy. Can't speak for the old folks here though. Never had a complaint. Then again they didn't complain about my das II either. Dunno.

Unless you're like 87 going on "retired" I don't think you meet this criterion.
