So I got my hands on this old beat up Zenith with yellow ALPS. When I got home and inspected it and referenced the wiki I found that they are yellow complicated ALPS. I was having trouble matching their color, but I realized they are the same ones that my Omnikey uses under the LED/Window keys. But this board has them for every switch. There's an LED present for the Caps Lock/Scroll Lock/Num Lock and the rest of the keys have the hole where the LED is supposed to go.
This link shows that there is a Zenith board that uses Yellow Complicated linears but does anyone know if they are the yellow ones with a place for LEDs?

I dont know for sure. My Zenith with complicated greens(linears) have a LED hole for each switch which is nifty in some respects. But nonetheless, if yours is like mine, it will have a hole for the LED in each switch. Almost thought about trying to do a backlit ALPS mod with it just for lulz...ordering SP caps yourself is expensive though...

Can you order filco Zero keycaps independently?

Oh right, that would defeat the purpose of backlighting. :(
A backlit ALPS would be pretty sweet. That's a good idea. I'm sure it'll happen sometimes soon, especially given the sudden increase in new designs.

I think it would be fun to have them on when actuated, and off otherwise. Visual feedback (peripheral for most of us touch-typists) in a 60s sci-fi kind of way ;)

Now that would be cool to look at.
