Title: Leopold FC200R backspace key
Post by: makuab on Sat, 26 November 2011, 21:14:07
I remove the leopold FC200R backspace key because it was squeaking, however now i'm not sure if i've put it back on correctly, it looks slightly more elevated than the other keys. Help please?

Push down harder.

The Cherry stabilizers (or clones if the rumors are true) have that problem.

Make sure the stabilizers are aligned with the stems. And just press down until you bottom out

that's my problem, they seem to be kind of hard to align

Try aligning one side first then middle then other side. Works for me.

well... if you can push the key down smoothly with some increased force. Then it should mean that it is aligned...

I am going to guess you dislodged the stabilizer mount. I did that once on my Leopold which caused the key to sit oddly like that. It clips into the pcb, but the problem is it is under the plate so it can be hard to see. With the keycap off, can you move the stabilizer towards the fkeys or enter? If so you are going to need something quite small to use to press the clips back into the pcb.

I think it might be okay.

If I was Sixty I'd blame clone stabilizers.  See The RipTheCompetition Effect (http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?24173-Ripster-s-LATEST-Keyboard-Theory-The-RipTheCompetition-Effect).

I don't understand.

Did I make a bad choice with this keyboard?

****.

I'm just kidding about that clone thing.

Check the key for molding crud in the cruciform holes.  There's not  a lot of variables here.

I think it might be okay. The key can be compressed completely and doesn't feel awkward or anything, it does look slightly higher than the number row, is that normal?

EDIT: Nevermind, it's definitely abnormal.

I think I fixed it by pressing down really hard

It is not a bad choice. I own a second hand one and I like it a lot.
Do you still have your key sticking out? If it is fixed, just enjoy the keyboard.

I can't tell, the bottom seems to be aligned with the rest of the keys, so I think I might be okay.
