Title: What is this thing called?
Post by: tylerlong on Mon, 28 November 2011, 17:42:39
I was browsing geekhack the other day and I saw a keypad and I would like to know where I could get one.
It was for your left hand, and it had the qwer, wasd and t and g keys. I think I would really be able to benefit from this. If I can not buy one, how can I make one? Thanks.

Maybe this would interest you as well. I've even got a spare one that was never used lying around, they don't make them anymore. The one I have seems to be a rebranded version though as it says both "Ultra GPC" in addition to "Wolfking Warrior" on it. It also came in just a plain white box instead of the fancy boxes I see on Ebay.

I would call it a "gaming keypad".

The Nostromo was previously made by and branded by Belkin. There were a few earlier models with fewer keys, and less features.

The other gaming keypads that I know of, are:
Saitek PRO GAMER - Command Unit,
ZBoard Fang,
Cyber Snipa.
Delux T9
Genius ErgoMedia 500
Logitech G13
Revoltec Flightpad
Wolf king
A4Tech X7-G100

seems like it would just be an additional pain. What's the advantage over a standard keyboard? i just plop mine on my lap and stick it back on the table when not gaming.

EDIT: Not trying to be a threadcrapper, obviously you're free to spend money on whatever you desire, just curious as to why somebody who wants this product wants it.

The logitech one is the G13.

I have one actually, I wouldn't recommend it though. I thought the the directional stick on the right hand side was on a really awkward angle and way too off to the side to be considered practical to use for anything. ever. On top of the fact that the unit itself just felt uncomfortable and "unnatural" to use.

The LCD screen and the backlighting is kind of cool though.

I have a g13 now, used to have a Nostromo. . . the only thing that I hated about the Razer Nostromo that I had was the stupid grinding against the wells of the rubber dome keystems, especially the "spacebar" key.

How does one cherry a Nostromo??
