Title: Chery 80-8113 firmware update error
Post by: one_each on Thu, 01 December 2011, 12:33:13
I've just downloaded the latest version of the Cherry Tools (5.8) and it indicates that the firmware on my 80-8113 needs an update before the designer can read/write the configuration.  However, when it tries to update, I get an error 0x96 with a message stating that the modules in the firmware file don't match the keyboards modules.  Does anyone know where I can get the right firmware for this keyboard or download an older version of Cherry tools?  Any other ideas are welcome as well.

I had to do a firmware update with my G80-8113 too. There was something that popped up, but for the life of me I can't remember what it said. I'll have to look it up when at home. Do you have a screen shot of the error? It might be that you have to point Cherry Tools to the correct firmware file, since it's got a whole folder full of  them and doesn't seem to know which one to use for which board.

At any rate, it is possible to update a G80-8113(mine was a HRBUS, using PS2) using the v5.8 Cherry tools. This was even with Windows 7 x64.

I'll have to get a screenshot/exact-copy-of-the-text later (the board is at home) but I did try all of the firmware files and they all gave the same error message.  Mine is a PS/2 (LRCUS as I recall) and I'm using Windows XP.  Designer saw and identified the keyboard correctly.

Since I have a spare controller (it was stripped for the clears) I just went ahead and did the update and it worked fine.  No problems with Designer now.
