Title: Warm HHKB controller and USB dropout
Post by: kaiserreich on Sat, 03 December 2011, 12:31:02
I was using my HHKB and suddenly key presses does not register until I replug the HHKB in.
Same thing was happening to my wireless adapter, the PC fails to detect it and I had to re-seat the Wireless adapter.
The mouse also reconnects.

I am not seeing this issue with other keyboards

The back of the HHKB felt a tad warm. Previously, I opened the keyboard up for yucks, just the back cover, and placed everything back.
Would this be the cause?
Has anyone encountered the same issue before?

Nope.
Everything is plugged into the USB ports on the PC.

This just happened, I left the HHKB unplugged for a while, and then replug it in, the wireless adapter drops out.
It might be possible that both the wireless adapter and the keyboard are fighting for power.

When I plug my USB headset dongle into the same USB hub as my KB/mouse it sometimes pukes the hole hub.  Re-plugging the hub's cable will fix the problem.  This is a power issue as best as I've been able to determine.

I'll try to use a different USB port.
See if that helps.

Thanks for the advice

EDIT: It appears that my wireless adapter is faulty. But that does not explain the warm HHKB controller.
