what is the deal with MX clears i hear they feel like mx browns but they don't sound like they would be good for typing or gaming
can someone explain to me what are they for and how they feel

IMO, they CAN be good for both typing AND gaming. It all depends on your preference.

They are quite a bit stiffer than browns and have a more pronounced tactile bump. They are not easy to bottom out on.

Clears are actually tactile. Browns aren't, which is to say that the tactile "bump" is so insignificant it might as well be a linear switch...and I don't like linear switches.

That's the point. Too bad that most keyboard manufacturers haven't caught on to this point and don't offer Clears as an option.

You may or may not like them, it's up to your personal preferences. The only way for you to know is to actually use them for some time.

I personally hate them because they are way too stiff and way too mushy. And that stiffness makes the tactility not that perceivable (I prefer the tactility of MX Brown!). If your typing is very light or if you'd like to type very lightly, pick MX Brown or Red.

I happen to type extremely heavy, so I like the clears for typing a lot. I use them at work every day, and in that context, it's a bit like floating over the keyboard, because it is considerably difficult to bottom out on them. They definitely don't feel as clean as the blues do, though.

I happen to love blues for gaming. Don't know how I'd fare with clears. Maybe it's time for science.

Yea my favorites are clears (ergo and regular) and dampened blues for both typing and gaming. But like funkymeeba, I'm a heavy typer. I think switch choice has a LOT to do with typing style, as well as the shape of your fingers.

Well, my first mechanical boards were Model Ms, thus I'm used to that buckling-spring feel. It's still my preference overall, but finding a Model F 122 and having it converted won't be easy.

Since Model Ms have a much heavier switch than the MX Brown, while the MX Clear is much closer...you see where I'm going with this.
