So, my filco majestouch 2 with blue cherry mx switches arrived today, and I ****ING LOVE IT. I was hesitant at first if i wanted blues because of some said double tap issues. But now having througly tested it and as i am writing this, all i can say is that is perfect. I have a Majestouch 2 TKL with brown switches, guess its going to collect dust from now on.
I was scared first of blues, but i took the plunge, and the reward was so great!
If your wondering why i wanted the blues to begin with? ah yes is the lovley audio feedback! ClickClackCklick..
I cant see myself using anyother keyboard again ever!
:)

Double Tap issues on Blues are just OCN Hysteresis Hysteria.
Congrats (typed on a Filco Camo Blue Cherry MX tenkeyless at 1000hz over USB).
Forgive me for being such a newb, but what does 1000hz imply in keyboard terms?

its the poling rate of the keyboard, meaning how many times it sends the signal to the computer. or something like that. the faster the polling rate, the better, especially for FPS gamers

I would have to agree with this. I use a Leopold with blues for some FPS gaming, as well as Tetris. I have not noticed any weirdness with double tapping. Really, the keys respond in a way that feels very similar to Beatmania arcade keys. Incidentally, I have no issues jackhammering those, either.
Anyways, I am a big fan of the blues, also. That click is just so satisfying.

Aren't gamers supposed to use PS2 for their keyboard and USB for their mouse? (or maybe I got it backwards)
-
So is the feedback faster with the usb rather than the usb to ps2 adapter?
-
Probably not to a noticeable degree. 1000hz means the keyboard is polled every ms. Most people don't type that fast.
However you now have massive epeen over Leopold and Rosewill Filco clones.
Nice ;), Thank you for answering my question! :)
-
I am starting to love blues myself...especially with o-rings on the keycaps (makes them harder to bottom out). I never have an issue with double tapping and I pwn on them in fps games.

According to their literature, the Cmstorm is also 1000Hz.
Also, just overclock your PS2 ports, that way it's better.

I'd say you're right, or at least that's how I would do it for efficiency. When you give input on PS2 you know that it will be handled right away instead of having to wait till the next poll. However, since there is some overhead for the interrupt method used for PS2 compared to USB polling and the mouse is constantly providing input (far more than the keyboard in any case) the cost of the overhead becomes relatively high. Of course this cost is insignificant compared to the power of computers today, so you could really just use both on PS2 and it would be the most responsive, just not as efficient as keyboard on PS2 and mouse on USB.
Perhaps the cost of the interrupt is such that it would not be able to perform 1000 interrupts compared to 1000 polls in the given time frame though... not sure about that.

The doubletapping issue with blues is real. It's not impossible, but it is harder than with other switch flavors. I think a lot of people think doubletapping means just spamming keypresses really fast, which blues have no problem with.
-
blue switches are fun!... but nothing to be fun about when you get a woman in the house who might get pissed from the "noise". Thus brown is pretty much the only option I got... other than those linear switches.

You forgot to mention about the 1000hz over USB.

Yeah, it's real. It's easier to double tap in other switches. Ripster is just sponsored to say that all Filco features rox and it has the best build quality.
But it's very easy to get used to. Double-tap in Blues shouldn't be an issue to anyone.

+1
ya it is true, but not supposed to be an "issue"

If you don't release the key all the way, blues do not click, but they still register. I think people just have problems because the click and the register are off sync, so they think it is not registering correctly.

And the 1000hz over USB.
Which Leopolds and Rosewill doesn't have.
There was some dude at OCN that warned me my CPU utilization would suffer. What?

Dont you have like a 2600k or something haha.

Overclocking is pretty cool... well, at least until people start overclocking their smartphones. That's almost as bad as overclocking a TI-86.
OP, glad you like blue switches! I know I love mine.
-
Overclocking is great on a custom rig, but most people have OEM's that make it hazardous to their equipment. I don't understand people that OC laptops... they get hot enough and use too much battery already, why would you up the stakes.

I am a big fan of Cherry MX Blues. After having typed on a Topre at home, and an AEK II at work for the past six months or so, I decided to switch to my Cherry G80-3000 two days ago. What can I say, typing on Cherry MX Blue is like having sex. I also noted that the Cherry G80-3000 is "quieter" than my Das which is also equipped with Cherry MX Blue switches.

Do you know where I can buy those in Europe? I've looked for them but found nothing. Shipping them from the US will be too expensive.
-
Currently own a blackwidow ultimate, and i love the blue switches. Wanna buy a WASD tkl with red's if they ever come out. But I'm afraid that ill miss blues :(

Really? WASD's checkout system just quoted me $2.33 to ship a set of O-rings to Germany.
-
I recently ordered a set of o-rings from wasdkeyboards for my cherry reds. shipping to germany was ridicolously cheap and fast (3$ and took 3-4days)
was definately worth it!
-
Did you get the black 50A or the pink 40A o-rings?
-
I got the 50As ... I love them especially for Starcraft 2 since they shorten the keytravel by quite a bit and make it easier and less noisy to spam apm :)
-
I agree with you OP, I like blues much better than browns. Double tap is not much of an issue for me since I don't have time for gaming these days, alas....
