Have you tried uninstalling the device drivers?

I don't think it's dead.

It was plug and play and working fine until now.  I don't see any drivers for this board on Google.  I also use an adapter to connect with PS2 with no luck.

So how much?

I would recommend first asking if another member on the forums would be willing to take a look at it for cost of shipping only. Then maybe you won't need to get a new keyboard since the Mini is still a good board and it seems highly unlikely it would fail so catastrophically so quickly.

Also. Covered by warranty?

I'm having the same problem with my leopold. Keeps disconnecting every 2-3 mins under USB. Luckily, I haven't had problems under ps/2.

I'm not talking about a specific driver for it. When you plug and play, windows installs a driver so that it will run with. Sometimes devices just need that driver reinstalled.

Code: [Select]
[h=4]Step 3: Manually reinstall the drivers[/h]To remove and then reinstall the drivers, follow these steps:

Disconnect the device from the computer.

Turn off the power for the device, if the device has a separate power supply.

Open Device Manager. To do this, use one of the following methods:

In Windows Vista or Windows 7, click Start

, type device in the Start Search box, and then click Device Manager in the Programs list. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.

In Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK.

Double-click Keyboard, right-click the keyboard that you use, and then click Uninstall.

Note If your device is not listed, this means that the device was removed automatically when you disconnected the device. Go to the next step.

Restart the computer.

First, turn on the device, if you have to, and then plug the device into the computer. Your computer detects the device and then reinstalls the drivers for the device.
I'm only bringing this up since I don't think something fails that easily. Have you tried it on another PC? Maybe the cable is damaged?

Are you using a USB hub at all?  In my case it wasn't the Filco I had that was flaking out it was the hub it got plugged into overheating and freaking out.

Also you might want to try a different port or PC... could still the other end of the cable causing the problem.

Yes.  Tried different ports.  Tried different PCs.  Problem is always the same.  Keyboard will only work for about a minute and then it needs a few minutes of rest to "cool down" (see edit in original post).

It's directly connected to my PC no hub etc.  As mentioned earlier I tried it on the PS2.

On top of all of this information the PC was working fine for 3 weeks so I'm not sure why it would suddenly quit if it was a driver issue.

It would if I did an update.  That still wouldn't explain why it doesn't work on other computers running Windows XP (mine is Windows 7).

Lol. I hate windows updates... possibly can be because of it.

@OP
If you open up the case of your keyboard and feel the microcontroller, is it physically hot? Maybe a short somewhere, pulling a lot of current (hence overheating). I totally want to fix it...@_@

I'd try and get warranty if that's still valid for you. Reselling it may get you a bit back. I'm kind of interested actually. Only if you are UK and offering for cheap (and I mean real cheap...). ><. Otherwise someone will want to pick it up; For the case/switches/keycaps.

Unfortunately I'm in the US.  I bought this from Qtan on eBay.  His return policies only support DOA items.  Looking around the site it seems other people got a warranty card with theirs.  I'll have to track mine down I guess.

So sorry for your loss.

I got mien from him too. Mine's still alive and kicking. I bring it around a lot and it still hasn't died. = (

If for whatever reason it goes to just be a "harvest for parts" price, I would be interested. But I think odds are it will either be purchased as a fixer up or someone will help you fix it yourself.
